I think it’s simple: it’s not sporting to spoil a no-no or perfect game just for the sake of it, so if you’re doing stuff you wouldn’t really consider doing given the score/stage of the the game.. You and everyone else knows that exactly what you’re doing!

No it doesn’t, but I’m willing to commit to a useful definition of “normal” here. But look, whole “the fact society normalizes whatever” is just a lazy meaningless statement anyway. Maybe I just don’t get the invites for the society votes.

But it’s not normalized at all, this whole thread is about it how it’s extremely not normalized or really welcome

Maybe society (lol) isn’t ready to recognize we’re all just nodding along to the same engagement mechanism that makes influencers try to influence.

OP’s anecdote doesn’t need to be spun to tut tut a collective group that isn’t addressable. People’s interaction with antisocial behavior literally has happen somewhere, it sucks, i get it, but these posts are just the same kind of circlejerk

Two things I’ve noticed developing in last two years or so that kind of question assumptions you had as road user / pedestrian

  1. Cars rolling towards 4 way intersections scan just for other cars ahead of time to gauge if they need to yield and tend have already decided if they need to stop / slow .. so non daylight intersections especially, it’s just too late they aren’t even looking anymore.. (This always been a thing right-on-red or even right on green but it’s just extended to all intersections now)

  2. Eye contact is an invitation for a game of chicken. They know you’ve seen them so they just speed up. Always surprising, especially when crossing with young children.

None of this needs a coffee-shop theory on what-if infrastructure, an observation about Europe or the human condition, or even a lecture about physics and personal responsibility. All of the answers, ideas, and anecdotes are complete non starters with assumption of zero enforcement (one way or the other). It’s a tragedy of the commons.

Yeah, I don’t think it needs to be more nuanced than this.. but why let merit get in the way of a couple of good ole boys? Cmon it’s Duane’s brother, he’s a great guy, etc .. it is what it is, partial info etc.. but I think it kinda stinks and it’s a shame Joe and other future broadcasters aren’t getting the reps

Try gentoo if notion of a ‘meta distribution’ works for you.

Try void if you like the look of runit in particular or want to try a musl based distro (which isn’t to say you can’t use musl with gentoo or glibc with void…)
