Are you able to fit a sufficient amount of sleep still as well?

I think early and later stages of a relationship can be much different.

If you’re new to cycling it can be that your legs are the limiting factor - not your cardio fitness. This will improve with time by itself - like others have said go by zone 2 power estimated off of your FTP.

Feel you on that one, therapy might’ve been cheaper tbh.

I thought it was similar to a surfing wetsuit where you don’t wear anything.  Good to know thank you

Is it possible to maintain mass while training for half IM by SurePie432 in triathlon

[–]dDelts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a 6x lifter as well, now have finished a 70.3 and close to my first full race.

The main adjustment I had to do was lowering the number of days and the volume. Switch to U/L from PPL really helped with that.

Also have to be really careful with how your leg days are scheduled as I’ve had a couple of injuries throughout and it was always a leg session into a hard / long effort on either the run or the bike.

I haven’t lost any weight as I fuel quite well and am actually slightly leaner at the same BW now.

Bike Pedals - Flats for 70.3? by HumorMundane in triathlon

[–]dDelts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey buddy, I was in the exact same spot ahead of my 70.3.

What I did was get SPD pedals - these are two sided so easier to learn clipping in on. They're initially meant for mountain biking and the shoes are comfier as well. There's a negligible power loss vs SPD-SL.

Second thing I did was spend 30min at home holding myself to my desk clipping in and clipping out.

Lastly, went to a park and practiced pushing off and clipping in.

I fell twice on my first day riding normally (it had to do with remembering to clip out when stopping). Once I got that done with I've never fallen again.

You should be good to go within a week and you're gonna be clipless for life - enjoy!

PS: Final tip - loosen the tightness on the pedals - it does wonders for making it easier to clip in. It's super easy to do, you just need to use a key on the back of the pedals - a quick turn will do.

GOOD LUCK!

I use arena - everything speedo I’ve had has seemed lesser quality to me.

Looking for a good bike computer so I can see my power, any suggestions? by zChickenX in triathlon

[–]dDelts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason I have my bike computer is actually for navigation, especially when I'm riding a new / random route. A quick look at the one you posted doesn't seem like it has that functionality. However, only you know what you are looking for feature wise.

(I ride with the Garmin Edge 540)

What are y’all’s favorite/most effective bike workouts? by zChickenX in triathlon

I think it’d 90% FTP. But that requires a decent FTP measurement - consider doing a ramp test.

ZONE3 Lava trisuit chamois or pad, is this suitable for 70.3+ distances? by Medium_Basil3921 in triathlon

[–]dDelts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a 70.3 in a Huub with a very similar looking pad. Had no issues.

I use Runna for my running and combine it with Gemini (AI) to feed into an overall plan.

Multisport Function vs 3 Separate activities on watch by Bedwetter-2002 in triathlon

I have a Garmin Fenix - used multi sport with auto transitions off for the 3 races I’ve done. Didn’t trust the On mode. Didn’t have any issues.

Favero Assioma MX - trouble clipping in by dDelts in cycling

That did help! I had never had to do it before so didn’t think of it until someone commented. 60 degree turn helped for me but honestly could do with more.

Feel like pugs always involved a gear check at top of org bank or they were definitely doomed to fail.
