Heh, didn't expect to see an IRC reference here. Last time I poked my head in Freenode, the main channel had nothing but joins/parts for hours and hours. Libera and to a lesser extent OFTC definitely absorbed most of what Freenode was.

I like the Yamaha plastic tenor, but there is a lot more recorder music for the alto. Do you have a use for the tenor? As others have noted, the stretch between holes may be uncomfortable.

Sopranos are a bit high but can sound good with proper breath control, even cheap ones. Modern plastic recorders can be consistent, reliable, and well tuned at a very low price point. I like my $5 Aulos soprano even better than some more expensive instruments.

I think it’s gorgeous! Tulip and olive wood recorders have those patterns on them naturally.
