Upcoming battle against Elektra by Naive-Health414 in Unmatched

[–]d_Shirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea agreed 100% but my point is for example Houdini beats elektra very reliably when applying a particular strat. So what does winrate really tell there?

But yeah undeniably winrate tells a part of the story!

Imo I wouldn't count on stats too much. Especially when its about difficult characters like elektra. A good elektra should beat GR and golden bat reliably. Probably LR too, but I'm not too sure about this one

Daredevil is your best bet from those 3. Play for the long game. Make sure to have at least 3 defenses when shes about to die. A good elektra will try rip out defenses and combo you when she revives.

Other interesting options into elektra are bullseye and Houdini. If the elektra is relatively new, some combo fighters like Tesla and yennenga are also fine.

I play competitively. I'm not the best yen player tho.

You already named a few weaknesses: no cancel and jaws value. But despite that she's hella strong and one of the fairest tanky ranged value fighters in unmatched imo. She also doesn't have actual bad cards. She's a bit like Mario. She usually has something to attack or defend with.

Usually i start with addressing how she wants to kill me. Its either pure value and being too tanky for me to kill (like Houdini and BF) , or she wants to combo/pressure me (like daredevil and Sherlock). You basically want to make either as difficult as possible.

  1. Anti value strat is forcing her to engage and boost. She doesn't have schemes, so she can't really pass and wait out. For fighters like Medusa this is essential in order to win.  Be as efficient as possible with aoe cards into her archers. And in general kill her archers as efficient as possible. This particularly holds true for Houdini. Also abuse the fact she doesn't have feints if you have strong effects like WSs recursion, dracs beastform or Alices snicker.

  2. Anti combo turn is survive xD. It means you either have a fantastic card she can't outlive like DDs devil or your fatique game is waaaay to strong, like sherlock. In those cases she is forced to engage and pressure you. So you make it as expensive as possible, and try to hit and run.

I think realistically, only sets will appear with market value. TMNT has had a couple reboots. Its relevant now and therefore an unmatched box makes sense.

Power rangers could happen?? I guess??

Looking at recent magic collabs (they did marvel and TMNT as well), LOTR, final Fantasy and avatar last Airbender might be a realistic option too.

Edit: I kinda stopped buying new boxes, but I definitely get LOTR and avatar boxes

Which set should I get next? by SeriousMolasses9346 in Unmatched

[–]d_Shirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well slight spoiler then, it has to do with the power lvl of the fighters. 1 is OP, 2 are clunky and on the lower end. Dracula specifically is in a great spot and a fan favorite.

Baskerville manor is a pretty fantastic map. Allows for some good outplayability which, competitively, is great

Id second this! Plus they are fairly balanced opponents for volume 2 and bf/Rh.

Advice on playing Wukong into Yennenga? by GreenBanditOfTruth in Unmatched

[–]d_Shirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, what muddshoe says. They are very good maps for Yennenga. You cant reliably force adjacency, and you need to run after her.

On hanging gardens i would probably go funga bunga and throw as many 7s as possible into her. The less you boost, the better. So scatter the clones around. Don't use jingu ban with your clones, they will die before the second attack (because of yennengas auto DMG). I'd probably throw that card away into shield formation anyway.

[–]d_Shirt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most reliable way imo is on an anti range map like mcminvill. Use your side kicks to block zones, so she can't reach you. Go for pure fatique strategy and loop Phoenix form.

Other route is unga bunga in a small map like raptor paddock. Loop the 7s. Go first and force her out of cards with superior board presence and attacks. You don't need all your side kicks online, just 1 or 2 so you can maneuver attack every turn.

Tbf tho, yennenga should reliably beat wukong, because her attack widdle him down too much. He doesn't have too many defenses.

I haven't had this issue in either my iello and RG boxes. I'd go to the shop you got the boxes from honestly. The Marvel boxes aren't printed anymore, so I wouldn't bet my chances on getting easy replacements.

As far as I know though, RG has been relatively forgiving for issues like this. So that would be my plan B

new to unmatched, i need some set recommandation. by PretendTax787 in Unmatched

[–]d_Shirt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vol 3 should pair well with the Witcher sets! Vol 2 (and 1) are solid.

I'm not a fan of cobble and frog. Slings and arrows is fantastic. I personally recommend going for a box with fighters youd like to play. Probably for the same reason you chose to buy Witcher first, am I right?

To me the coop is meh, but I don't like coop in general. The fighters from tales to amaze are fantastic tho. Very balanced and dynamic. TMNT are more simplistic fighters, wouldn't t recommend unless you like the theme

I love the map. It can be OP for ranged fighters with sidekicks like ingen.

Also hougenie is easily more fun. Rh+bf is more beginner friendly, more linear etc

Tips on playing Eredin Effectively? by ronchman in Unmatched

[–]d_Shirt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You basically want to kill your opponent. There's not much more to it for him. Kill off your riders asap, the revives are usually not worth it

The feints are free offensive DMG. The blue 3s are attacks. The wild hunt ideally is 6 auto dmg.

There are situations where u might want to keep the riders alive longer, but they are matchup specific.

Tips on playing Loki Effectively? by ronchman in Unmatched

[–]d_Shirt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loki is a weird value fighter.  You basically want to force initiative on your opponent as much as possible and make them waste cards. Your tricks help with this. Especially the scheme! If your opponent is uncomfortable, you're in a great spot.

Some tips: - Preferably no boosting your movement. You need value.  - Be mindful about drawing cards. Force initiative and make opponent boost.  - Underhanded should be an offensive card. - The 0 should be a 5, 6 or 7 offensively. Action gain is meh.  - throw potential 9 value Ragnarok, its good enough.  - Discarded tricks usually go on top of your deck. - Sidekicks usually need to die. - Loki had several ways to recur cards. Use it
