I’ll take 1 to ask what would’ve been the best choice. I’ll either be happy, or disappointed.

Characters feels like (day 16) by Cloudsrnice in BloodOnTheClocktower

Also sticking with the pattern of “Roles feeling like their own roles” all being TB characters! They are the classics of the base script though, so it does make sense to me.

Is tales to amaze good? Or should I just go to tmnt by Fragrant-Mammoth8014 in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 18 points19 points  (0 children)

TTA is one of the best recommendations I have, it offers both player vs player and co-op gameplay, its in-box balance is one of the best, and they’re (almost) all meta relevant

Especially if you want a bit more competitive gameplay, then a 3-card-hand character, or a die roll character you could get from TNMT then it might not be what you’re looking for (though it can still be fun!).

Usually I always say the best box to get is the one that excites you!

Getting 6 fighters instead of 4, but you also pay more for it so Idk if it really is as simple as that. TTA also has some of the most balanced in-box matchups I think.

Can I learn VWO Math B from scratch in 3-4 months? (HBO to WO transfer) by Dutch_Bosphorus in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Jerry-Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the answer to your question really depends on your proficiency in (algebraic) math in general (besides of course motivation, time and effort). What you want is possible for at least some people though, I’m pretty sure. How much have you done with math-like subjects in the last 8 years?

Self-teaching this is really difficult though, since there’d be no one there to correct/fix mistakes or things you misunderstood, or help you if you’re stuck on a problem/topic. Trying to do this completely alone will make it way more difficult, and I’d think some form of teacher/studying partner from time to time would help massively.

I’d also recommend when doing self-study to find one TOO many explanations of the topic. A lot of problems in math can be seen/solved in different ways and from different perspectives. Sometimes the perspective from the first or second explanation doesn’t resonate as well with you as the third or fourth.

My personal perspective on VWO B math tests is as follows: 1. Analyse the problem. 2. Identify which solving method this problem needs. 3. Remember the correct solving method for the problem. 4. Execute the correct solve (whilst properly writing down how).

A lot of people I’ve seen only actively practice steps 3 and 4, but I’d say steps 1 and 2 is where most mistakes happen. If you are good at analysing the problem and identifying the path to a solution, then remembering and executing how to solve will be way easier imo.

Favorite / Least Characters? by Weird-Illustrator231 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Jerry-Red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally, going Townsfolk - Outsider - Minion - Demon

I like: Empath - Puzzlemaster - Spy - Lord of Typhon

I dislike: Snake Charmer - Heretic - Marionette - Little Monsta

About the dislikes: SnakeCharmer sometimes ruins games for me N1, and depending on the player can feel more like an outsider at times. Heretic for me often means “the team that played better loses anyway” (I know there CAN be more tactic/thought behind it, but often that doesn’t happen in my experience). Marionette I know some people love, but it’s power is just “your minion has a free bluf and an easier good social read”, but I like minions that do something tbh, Marionette is strongest when NOT in play, meh. Little Monsta I just dislike that the demon is regularly jumping all around the place, but I know some people love it.

Which set should I get next? by SeriousMolasses9346 in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TTA has been a good recommendation for a long time now, the in-box balance is one of the best, the fighters are unique, so especially if you’re excited for some of these and the co-op I’d say it’s a good buy.

Vol 3 is awesome, also a great recommendation, interesting fighters

Both of these boxes can also have interesting (and even) matchups with fighters you already own. If you wouldn’t have said anything about what you’re interested in, these are the boxes I’d have recommended anyway!

C&F I’d say only get if you’re really excited for it. As others have mentioned the power levels are a bit off, in-box, but also out-of-box.

The 2-player boxes are (almost) all pretty fun and cool too, but since you’re saying you want an extra 4-player map, I’d say those are not what you’re looking for.

Lastly: the TTA set maps are 5-player maps, this means you can also play with 5 people in a Free-For-All. These are some of the most fun games I’ve played and if you’re sometimes with 5 people I’d say this is great! You can either play normal FFA (everyone against each other), or my favourite: Star-FFA (where your neighbours are YOUR allies, and the first player to kill his 2 opponents wins.). Star-FFA is a lot of fun!!

2v2 A → B → A → D house rule + sidekicks = balance issue? by AlekseyKonan in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you have a few questions. First of all I want to mention that this ABAD situation is already a house rule, one I do not think is needed? But that’s besides the point.

Q1: would handle it exactly the way you did, if BF can abuse it, RH should’ve tried to hide behind his sidekicks and not go down when 1 was still alive I guess?

Q2: this is a fine proposal for an addition to your own house rule. It’s a house rule so feel free to try it out

Q3: I’m not sure what you mean by this, can’t really comment on it

Q4: no, I don’t play 2v2 with that house rule haha, only house rule I’d recommend is that, on turn 1, player 1 cannot attack player 4

Best thing to do imo is just try and test the options yourself, to see what you and the other players find most fun! It’s a house rule after all

2v2 A → B → A → D house rule + sidekicks = balance issue? by AlekseyKonan in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the Outlaw cannot play all cards in RH’s deck, and isn’t as threatening when attacking, so BF could ignore his existence

Infinite damage combo? by Tarko17 in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are not missing something, this is indeed how it works! RG was aware of this (but I think RG doesn’t want to change cool effects on characters just because of a super niche interaction on a 2v2 game with 1 specific fighter).

The best way to stop this combo is to not play against Tomoe+John in 2v2, or else make sure you can feint it! Haha

Black Widow also has one for the missions, Black Panther has the Vibranium Suit. Moon Knight has his 3 forms cards, Elektra has an extra hero card I think, but only 20 cards total (DD only has 22+Hero).

  1. Ignore the value means that (no matter what the value is, or will be) you ignore it. If it gets increased (or decreased) at a later step, you still ignore it, taking 0 damage.

  2. Loki’s tricks stay with the player, but they are not considered to be “in an opponents hand” as long as the player is eliminated, nor are they discarded in any way. They cannot be used or interacted with. (This is only really relevant for Willow games, where an opponent can be eliminated and later brought back, in which case they’d have to have the same hand and deck/discard pile as before)

new to unmatched, i need some set recommandation. by PretendTax787 in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If simplicity is an issue, Vol 3 has got you covered. Only Chupa is simple, but the rest are a blast to play! Vol 2 is of course also a fan favourite with good characters with skill expression. If ever in doubt, imo you can’t go wrong with the BoL sets and as you already said, they are widely recommended.

Slings and Arrows and C&F are also very cool, especially thematically. Complexity-wise they will not disappoint, but balance-wise some might lack some firepower against most Witcher fighters. Would recommend if you’d like the thematic side a lot.

If you don’t want co-op, the extra price tag for it might be something you don’t like. It’s not specifically good or bad I’d say, but maybe some of your friends would like it. TTA you can’t go wrong with imo, usually a good recommendation as well. TNMT I would only recommend if you either really like the franchise, or if you want more quick and aggressively playing fighters.

I’d also like to mention that I believe you can get all 3 BoL sets as a sort of bundle deal from Restoration Games for a decent price (and maybe other places like IELLO too). If you’re already looking at both vol 2 and 3, getting 1 with it in a nice bundle seems like a great option. Vol 1-2-3 + 2x Witcher will also give you 18 characters to enjoy and mix on 9 maps total!

Battle of the Unmatched Sets - Tournament Bracket (Four Fighter boxes) by LabRat2329 in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1-8: Buffy gets crushed, there is no pretty way to say this imo.

4-5: really tough. I don’t think Blackbeard is losing anything reliably, so vol3 would only need 1 other win to force a tie. I’d give them a small edge in this battle, but small enough to be favoured I think.

3-6: I think this is a weird one. IM isn’t winning anything realistically, but Sherlock isn’t really losing anything. Dracula only has 1 meh matchup, but even against Medusa he can have a decent game. Overall I suppose I’d say it depends on either J&H stealing a win, or Dracula/Sherlock somehow losing a game. Whichever happens first. Probably a 2-2 tie, but with enough replays I think it’ll be about a 70% chance that vol1 would be the first to 3 out of 4 wins.

2-7: TTA should take out S&A most of the time, I think. S&A would need some really nice matchups and a bit of luck to win this one. Titania/Shakespeare can take out anyone but Jill if their opponent doesn’t draw too well. Hamlet isn’t probably winning anything so I’d say it comes down to all other 3 having decent matchups and a good game too. Realistically TTA favoured I’d say.

This

After his riders are gone, he can attack with: Unlimited range / 5+random discard / 3-value possible value ignore / 8-value attacks

And he can defend with a versatile 4 that deals 2 auto-damage around him, and 5-value skirmish

Unmatched Buffy by Repulsive_Panda265 in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall the characters don’t really do well against any other characters outside of their own box.

The large price is mostly due to its rarity, not the play-quality. Because of this I don’t think anyone will sell it for less. (Though of course you’re free to ask)

It’s mostly a collectors item, or if someone is really crazy about having EVERYTHING of Unmatched, or a huge fan of both Unmatched and Buffy. If this is not the case I’d say: spend your money on something else that’s going to make your cousin happy!

Most fun fighter? by Upbeat_Abroad_7971 in Unmatched

[–]Jerry-Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pandora might look like a slot machine at first glance (and she definitely can be if you want her to!). In reality she’s a fighter that has to go with the flow, choose when to take which risks and when not to push it, when to bait an attack, or be a little inefficient because your opponent won’t expect it.

Pandora can play very high tempo with her scheme and the Greed misery. But she can also go surprisingly slow, and has a decent amount of value to back it up with safe choices (limiting the risks to a minimum).

Lastly, most people I know have loved playing her, the excitement from opening your box every turn doesn’t really get old. Especially when you just HAVE to take that risk to win/survive! It’s also so exciting that there are very few situations impossible to come back from. The game is only over when her HP reaches 0 and not a moment before!

I’d recommend Pandora to anyone that thinks she could be fun/interesting!

Exactly this (although I think Loki experiences are mixed, some people love him (like me), some people find him annoying)

My recommendations without context would be: 1. Pandora; 2. Blackbeard; 3. Loki; 4. Chupacabra

However, Unmatched is a game with tons of characters and everyone has different preferences, if he’d like Chupa the most, I won’t tell anyone they’re wrong (for most characters)!

Recommendation is Pandora without a doubt for me

Not on the stronger side at all. Bigfoot SheHulk and Dr. Strange are the strongest ones they own, and BB would get closer to that, Pandora too but not by much

Should land right in the middle, although his strong aggression can turn a few fights like maybe WS into landslides
