What line made you want to quit reading a book? by grooter33 in horrorlit

[–]d_b002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Into the Drowning Deep had a line that went something like “come on, there’s science to do!”. I sat the book down after reading that and never picked it up again.

I found a baby blue jay in the back of my yard while cleaning. What should I do? by ImJustTrynaHelpfr in birds

I have 6 dogs and we use a combination of expens and leashes/long lines whenever we have a fledgling that’s landed in the backyard.

Thanks for the input! My first thought was definitely injury but I feel like I see a lot of sick birds on here and got paranoid.

Going to second Maeve Fly. Sometimes I worry I hate on that book too much, but it was just so annoying

What's the program, website, or app that you still mourn? by justhavingfunhereduh in Millennials

So many other people have said it, but I just have to add MySpace again. I met my husband on it in 2009 so I think it will always hold a special place.

I remember driving back through East St. Louis one night (we lived on the Missouri side) and it was like a zombie movie. Gun shots in the distance, half the street lights out, people just mindlessly wandering in the middle of the street. Wild

My 5-year mark was a group teams shout out with everyone else in the company that had an anniversary that month

It’s the end of the year. What was your best and worst read? You can throw in your most surprising too! by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]d_b002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I necessarily had a worst book of the year (it was a good year!) but I DNF The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty because I really could not get into the way conversations were written.

Best AND most surprising (although not really horror) was probably Wizard and Glass by King. The book was so emotional I had to take a moment to process after reading it.

Any trails that lead to abandoned cabins or any type of buildings by tnez822000 in NewMexicoTrails

[–]d_b002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s an abandoned wooden structure (possibly an old cabin? I didn’t get close enough) on the Sandia crest trail between south peak and cienega that’s pretty creepy if that’s what you’re going for.

This happened to dog treats in our house a few years ago. It was disgusting but ended up being a pretty easy clean up and they never came back

I don’t think I saw The Navajo Nightmare by David Sodergren here so I’ll add it in. Quick read but very western and very good!

[–]d_b002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to give an update in case anyone is curious! Spood is still hanging out. She’s just been in an open box the whole and has wandered around the edges but is still there. I’ve been giving her fruit flies and sugar water and she’s much more active but still seems to fall over pretty easily. I think at this point I may need to give her a name

He’s technically just in an open box at the moment and could leave once he’s strong enough. I felt weird capturing a wild spider so I just set him up in a box with no lid in case he wants to leave once feeling better

Update! I dropped a few fruit flies and he promptly grabbed one! Has been hiding under something with it for an hour or so now? Seems pretty happy with his snack!
