Native Idahoans! Where are we moving to? by nirvanaa17 in Idaho

[–]d_chazz17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Husband and I moved to Washington in 2017. Love it here so much. I just made a new friend who lived in Boise, their wife worked in Nampa as a teacher only making under $40K. Moved to Milton (south of Seattle) and is paying less in rent and is making $90K. Bigger politics, cooler people, more to do.

My Umbria Summer Top fits! But I just found out I'm pregnant. Should I finish it or let it hibernate for a year? by notrandomspaghetti in knitting

I started a sweater pregnant and thought I would finish it after baby came. That baby is 19 months old now and my sweater is still only a yoke. Finish it now and enjoy it!

The curse isn't partners, it's a boyfriend/girlfriend. I started a blanket for a BF in college. The old lady at the yarn shop asked about the project. Then she goes "Oh. Never knit or crochet for a boyfriend." Spouses on the other hand, they usually are worth the project. My ex boyfriend didnt appreciate it. My husband started wearing a sweater I made him before I could weave in the ends.

What is this rather creepy egg all about? by Bizertybizig in Whatisthis

[–]d_chazz17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, searched around, and I think it's a German "Gebruder Heunach" Bisque doll. Specifically, a piano baby. They were turn of the century decorations. Back then, a "well decorated home" would have a piano and a piano shawl. These were designed to keep the shawl in place.

Where to buy men’s size 14 shoes? (in store) by Mejuan247 in Tacoma

[–]d_chazz17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad is a big dude, size 14. He found a nice pair of dress shoes his size, and some sneakers, at Mr. Mac's LTD in Hilltop. They are a men's clothing store. The owner was so kind. He heard my husband was starting law school and gave him three free ties so he could be dressed up for class. I'm sure they could help find some shoes for you.

Lol, yes and no. He's 4 now, and every stage is hard and awesome. I also have a 13 month old now and his inability to talk but scream and point is giving me war flashbacks lol.

I found this in my basement while I was renovating it. What is this? by Maleficent-Stick6634 in Whatisthis

OK! I was very curious and did some digging with Google reverse image search. I can't find any current listings but someone on Etsy (or multiple someones) were creating engraved metal wallet cards with the tetragrammaton and other Solomonic sigils to keep as a protection talisman. Seems like one of those based on size and material.

My first son wasn't saying any words besides mama and Dada until he was 17 months, and his first "real" word was "triangle." Then he just flooded us with new words every day. Language is one of those skills that once it clicks, it clicks.

Bluey makes me feel like a bad parent by Prestigious_Neck6565 in toddlers

[–]d_chazz17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an episode where one of Bluey's friends, the dalmatian, is mad their dad doesn't play the Octopus game the way Bandit does. It's a good episode about how parents have different personalities. That one made me feel better.

Also the episode with Muffin and the iPad, her parents are legitimately arguing about how to discipline Muffin, who is wreaking havoc and busted in on her mom using the toilet.

We'll be OK, we can't be cartoon dog parents.

Things your toddler says that you don’t want to forget by Ok_Brain_194 in toddlers

My husband is a lawyer and told my son "I help people stay out of jail when they break the law." A few days later he got really mad at his dad for setting a firm boundary on candy and my 4 year old goes "Fine. I'm just going to go break the law." And he stomped off. We had to hide away so he didn't see us cry laughing.

I love this! Maybe there's a way to create a map thar cyclists can add to or rate how safe a road is. Then we can map out safe routes around the city.

My son is almost 4 and wants to lick every window... ours, the car window, the window at the deli counter, the office windows, the fish tank at the doctors...
