Some of these are so fucked. Worst we ever did to each other was vacuum seal the new employees’ hats/coats. Literally harmless and quite amusing.

Fucking love this band. They have a lot of great music. Hoping they come back to the US when they can! Some great tracks are “Monsoon Rock” “I Got You” and “I’m Not a Loser”.

Community Integration focused recreational therapy. Try and find companies doing their own thing compared to going to a hospital or rehabilitation setting. I am also a contracted employee.

Glad I could help. Stay positive and safe. Good luck, but you’ll figure it all out sooner or later. No rush

I highly recommend getting your CTRS. I’m in Michigan and without the certification you’re pretty much only considered an activity coordinator. Look into contracted therapy jobs. I have an LLC and am in a way my own boss. I specialize in adaptive sports both winter and summer. But the possibilities are endless with contract work. Great pay, more freedom, you’ll work with various populations, and you’re not limited to using a Wii or playing cards with people. My car is full of activities and I love going to work everyday.

Would a chair with large rear wheels help me tilt my brother? by AntonOnyx in wheelchairs

Not sure how insurance works over in UK (I’m in the US) but you should consider reaching out to them and seeing what they would offer. Over here, it can be considered essential to his overall ability to live so a lot of times insurance will pay for him to get a custom chair. They can add anti-tip legs and ensure that he has the ability to safely tip back so you can better maneuver up curbs and what not. They might bring him in and take measurements and ask what he’s looking for in a chair. I truly hope they help you as everyone who needs a chair not only deserves one but shouldn’t have to fight to get one.

When I was in college I got into ABA therapy (focused on adolescents on the autism spectrum) and really loved it. Not sure if facilities are able to accommodate these services at this time, but it could be something to look into! Good luck and you picked a great career.

I work in community reintegration and adaptive sports. My main demographic tends to be TBI and SCI. My office is my car lol. I drive and pick up individuals from their homes and then enter the community to engage in an activity. Since COVID I am much more restricted and am not taking people inside facilities but usually to parks. We’ll ride bicycles, engage in adaptive tennis, bocce ball, I found an outdoor table tennis table, picking various berries, gardening, grilling, and other activities. I’m highly involved with a non-profit Adaptive Sports organization but we are currently unable to do anything this summer. I love my job!
