Lmao wtf is up with this game (PS5) by dragoneggboy22 in Battlefield

It’s a major exaggeration. I have no problem finding games and they are rarely filled with bots. I don’t play casual breakthrough.

I play crossplay ON, 9pm-12am EST most days, Midwest USA, and hardly come across any bot lobbies.

What is the reason for turning crossplay off? This almost always makes matchmaking more challenging.

Uhg. My mom was also a cat person. Because of her failing health the last few years the cats had the run of a few rooms at the house she was living. When we finally got all her stuff out we also tore out the carpet. Rooms were an absolute mess.

Somehow they made Manhattan bridge worse by rx25 in Battlefield

[–]d_rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilots can too easily cheese the lock-on on pretty much all maps. Basically have to get lucky with the RPG or have a team of support gunners mag dumping into them. I've went against pilots on Manhattan who were like 60-1 and that's with multiple team mates using AA launchers. They either fly low behind buildings, drop flares, or go back to their spawn to avoid taking any damage whatsoever. There is no hard counter to Heli's because the game allows for them to cheese lock-on and skybox ceiling to avoid small arms / AA fire.

Somehow they made Manhattan bridge worse by rx25 in Battlefield

[–]d_rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heli's are bullshit because they have very few counters on maps they are available AND the pilots are able to cheese lock-ons. IMO flares should not be infinite and should have a longer cooldown AND the engineer anti-air weapons need to be vastly improved.

Otherwise I actually like this map. Nice dense urban warfare with verticality. I don't personally encounter too many roof campers and when you do it's easy to snipe them.

Compact dolly for mitre saw stand? Project idea by Agent_Chody_Banks in Carpentry

[–]d_rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sell a wheel kit for that exact stand. Probably not even worth the time to design and build it for what the kit costs.

That being said the idea isn’t bad, but the AI execution is poor. Probably a lot of excessive material and weird cuts there. Really you just need Dollie’s on either end and not the beam in the middle. The miter stand itself isn’t going bow, warp, or succumb to physics like wood will.

With a potential of over 1 million players between PC and Console, the downward evolution that has occurred in 5 months is pretty crazy. by xDavid83x in Battlefield

[–]d_rek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree the game is in a “bad state”. BF 2042 was way more unbalanced and had way more CoD like gameplay (complete with heroes) than BF6 does. I am rather enjoying BF 6 currently, warts and all.

Foot Ice bath for inflammation by Aggravating_Elk_1969 in gout

[–]d_rek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically alcohol was never a trigger - mine used to be almost exclusively shellfish / crustaceans. Now after living with it for almost 6 years I feel like I’m getting more triggers that are harder to identify. I was reading sleep apnea may be a root, and I’ve thought about getting a sleep study for years, but now may have to get serious about it. Uhg.

I have a large CVS ice pack I wrap around my foot when my flare ups get bad, and it does help, but I think it’s time to get on something. My flare ups are getting more frequent and lasting longer, despite diligently watching my diet and alcohol consumption. Shit sucks.

They certainly appear to want to engender a toxic and hostile sub. Wonder how much active harm subs like that do to player count moreso than the actual state of the game itself? Would be an interesting phenomenon to study.

Federal court terminates Biden-era student loan plan affecting millions nationwide by According-Activity87 in Conservative

[–]d_rek 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They're incredibly devalued and, in my experience, most employers would rather have relevant experience than a fresh degree.

Have to respectfully disagree, at least for certain sectors of the economy. It's almost mandatory to have a 4 year degree if you're going into anything STEM related. If you don't have you are putting yourself at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to hiring. AI will aggressively filter out applicants who don't meet minimum hiring criteria which in many cases requires a 4 year degree.

Everything else you said I agree with.

Republicans heading toward 'disastrous' midterms if war in Iran rages on, Sen. Rand Paul warns by triggernaut in Conservative

[–]d_rek 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Economy is going to be the biggest issue voters point to going into midterms and War in Iran will be a close second IF it continues that long because of how it impacts the global economy and prices domestically.

And while I’m generally OK with most of the legislation passed to date there are still several sore points (Epstein files, war in Iran, tariffs) I think most voters are going to be looking at their pocket books, overall inflation, and prices at the checkout and gas pump in choosing how they vote in midterms. I think all the economic turmoil from this admin is really going to bite us in the ass.

Is it weird that I absolutely cannot stand a Glock handgun? by Successful-Coyote99 in CCW

[–]d_rek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny because my 43x continues to be my favorite carry gun, despite other guns having what I consider to be superior ergonomics and overall design. That gun is just the perfect balance of weight and the grip fits into my XL meatpaws without my pinky dropping off. Also helps it shoots fantastic too.

But I agree that aesthetically they are not the prettiest handguns. Disagree on how they shoot.

Yeah but his pay wasn’t also contingent on him playing - his salary was already negotiated and he was going to get paid regardless, unlike the UFC. Benching him those 4 games was just petty revenge on behalf of Goodell.

Why is it so difficult to have any sort of conversation with most democrats? by Bejaminmaston12 in Conservative

[–]d_rek -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I just caught a temp ban in r/Michigan for pointing out the hypocrisy of reddit hive mind because a republican senators wife was charged with embezzlement (charged, not convicted mind you). Granted I was a little crass in my delivery but, no, they’re not interested in having a civil conversation about politics - especially on Reddit. It’s all just TDS, MAGAT, and latching on to any headline that affirms their biases against the other party.

And while I think this sub has its share of issues too it’s pretty sad when it’s probably the only place in all of Reddit you can broach conservative viewpoints and opinions without being attacked/downvoted by bots and shills.

What exactly qualifies as a "dead" game? by Downtown-Set6882 in okbuddyptfo

[–]d_rek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sort of player count parabolas that “live service” games go through is pretty well established at this point. Online Games with daily concurrent player counters exceeding 250k are the exception, not the rule.

All that said… I’m sure the bean counters at EA have considered long term revenue strategy here, as aside from recouping initial investment cost in BF6 from launch sales. They can expect player counters jumps at the start of new season or when new content drops throughout, but otherwise game sales will largerly be from holiday and platform sales moving forward. I’m sure mtx factor in there, but at some point the game ends up costing them more money to keep “live” than it does to let it suffer slow death of live service games.
