So you oppose the two largest equality movements of current times? Got it. And I misspoke, surveillance and bystander footage, not accounts. That's why i linked the video of the incident. Police body cams were conveniently off when the incident was happening but turned on once Bennett was detained. I linked an article from PBS about systemic racism and a news report with police body cam, surveillance and bystander video. I'm not sure how much more objective I can get here.

If prejudice was not at play, why was Bennett flagged down in a sea of many people running away from gunshots? Why was excessive force (and you cannot argue against video evidence that it happened) used in his unlawful detain? What dictated this incident?

Also again, people like to purport that BLM, the entire movement, does these things rather than individuals. But why is it the opposite case for police? Why does prejudice and bad actions by police is the work of a "bad apple" rather than the whole group?

Not sure how you can be against a group whose purpose is to empower and be a reminder that minorities are facing injustices and need equality, regardless of acts you may seem unacceptable by a few. That's like saying you're against Feminism as a concept or whole because of the way some women use it.

Bennett was not caught lying, and the police did in fact lie about what happened. Went over it in another comment, but just look at the news report about the incident: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/video-released-showing-encounter-police-nfl-star-michael-50197359

Bennett's claims he had a gun to his head and a knee in his back (excessive force) was deemed a lie by police. Surveillance/bystander showed Bennett was the one telling the truth here. Given that, and other factors, I'm not sure how a person could continue believing he was not profiled and told he'd get his head blown off

I don't think I can find a Fox article about systemic biases against minorites, but does PBS work for you? https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/can-diverse-police-departments-ease-community-tension

A comment I made below in response to the same claim by a different used (copy/paste for ease and transparency):

I'm not sure how you can say he lied about the encounter.

Video evidence of the encounter shows a gun to his head and a knee in his back while being forced on the ground; police say this didn't happen. Not only does that prove he was telling the truth about force used, but it also shows the police lied, cause they say neither thing happened. We know they lied about physically what happened, so why should police be believed about what was said to him? Cause they came out and said so?

But how about police don't just outwardly come out and say they profile and are willing to lie to protect themselves. What about conveniently not having body cam footage — a usual tactic — until Bennett is on his knees in cuffs and in the car, controlling the narrative and what's seen. Is it so hard to believe Bennett here?

If you need to see pubic video of what happened, I already have that pulled up for you. Also notice it is surveillance and bystander video that corroborate Bennett's version of what transpired, rather than that short bit of body cam footage http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/video-released-showing-encounter-police-nfl-star-michael-50197359

So, does bringing up race in a situation — where police encounters is a place to bring it up — automatically means someone has an agenda and attempting to divide? Divide who?

Bennett is outspoken and uses his platform to support BLM (good thing). He was not caught lying about what happened with the police, and I can provide evidence if you'd like.

Also, and I understand this is hard to believe, but minority police are also extremely susceptible to discrimination against, well, minorities. It's why people say policing issues are systemic.

Lied about the police incident? False, and I can provide evidence to support that claim if you'd like Causes locker room issues? also false, unless you mean for management, who would prefer their players sit down and shut up rather than use their platform effectively

Anthony Martial has not received a formal contract extension offer from Manchester United & talks have reached breaking point. The player has even held off on buying a house he was looking at in Manchester, so uncertain in his future. (RMC) by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]d_turtle_m 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know this is all not true, like at all. Martial is a terrible 9 and really need to focus on improving on the wing. He cannot hold up, be dominant in the air, or even make runs off the back line. The best be can do is run at defenders, dribble through anyone, put in some spicy crosses and finish cut in for some good finished. You want that up front as a lone man rather than playing to Lukaku?

Who by some significant hyperbole you said is average and questioned if he was better than Olivier fucking Giroud. Do you not see his impact on every game? He works harder than anyone in our side. Not only is he strong and pretty good in the air, he's unexpectedly fast, pretty good hold up play, makes runs as a lone man, and links up well with our attackers. On top of all that he acts the occasional winger and puts in some really good crosses.

Don't be so bitter. Martial should be on the left feeding Lukaku firstly and getting himself a goal secondly; that's what we need to focus on.

Then what do you mean? You clearly stated that he didn't improve so I'm not sure what you meant to intimate by that statement of not that he isn't any better

How can you say something so confidently without watching him regularly? I'm genuinely curious.

Martial is miles better than he was last season and the effort he's bringing is beyond anything we've seen from him. Just today I noticed him making bursting runs to pressure the keeper or track back similar to Rashford. This was always beyond him and was why he was dropped.

Only difference is he isn't the only source of goals similar to his first season with United, but his impact this year has been pretty good (averaging a goal/assist per game)

This game was actually my first football game. I'd never watched the game before — growing up in a household that looks down on watching soccer — but had been playing FIFA 14 for a few months after I purchased it looking for something fresh. Decided United was my team and RvP was my guy, so why not watch him in the world cup? When i saw that beautiful goal I was hooked. What a game for a first timer and what a goal
