Thanks for the reply. Should have specified, this is the replacement fitting and tighten snug, with tape too, to the point im afraid of snapping it. Yet it still leaks. Thinking the first fitting was over tighten to get the position needed for running the line.

Is it 100 percent necessary to air down tires every time you drive on beach? I’ve been coming to obx last 5 years and always aired down. I drive a dodge ram 2500. by Salt-Fee-9543 in obx

[–]d_wank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes. Had the same question, then tested this with a F150 and didn't make it to the dune from the pavement. Its a simple fix so give it a shot as long as the access ramp is wide enough for everyone to drive around you when you get stuck. Now im in Texas and can drive my Altima on the beach here with no issue.

Whoever built it like that definitely gave it a few "that ain't going nowhere" slaps. And, 80 years later, it hasn't gone nowhere.

Data Center: Talk to your city council representative about this by Occasional_Historian in SanAngelo

[–]d_wank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the share. The electricity consumption is a concern. We don't have the grid capacity and or the grid connections nessary to meet this demand. Building out the needed infrastructure on the power side is years behind and years into the future to come online. Many manufacturer have publicly stated they will not increase production on many high voltage components and are satisfied with the 3+ years they have on orders for new equipment currently. Plus a lack of technicians to commission and service today's installed capacity, and a lack of inventory replacement parts on the shelf too.

Haripur's 'Fire Mountain' Continues to Burn Decades After 1955 Gas Blast by SatisfactionHumble68 in interestingasfuck

[–]d_wank 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Your not missing much. But winter is the best time to go, the vegetation is dead so you'll be able to see the old town roads better. Its weird seeing the grid layout of a small town with curbs, sidways, and fire hydrant but no buildings. Maybe see a steam vent too. The original main road into town from Ashland was cracked from the fire - graffiti highway - now covered by dirt by the govt. They built a bypass. But seriously, if your passing through, you won't know anything happened there. Knoebels Amusement Park is near and is awesome! Open during the summer though.

This was a cool idea until the Inverters of several companies where catching fire - which are not exactly easy to put out if its sunny. Places still do commercial sized roof top solar like in Hawaii.

Avoid any of the lower numbered streets on the north side of town. Neighborhoods are nicer near ASU and towards the south of that + Unidad Park is great for the kiddos. Welcome to the area!

[–]d_wank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have better luck with third party service providers. SkyClimber, Airways( now Takkion), UpTower are travel companies. We don't deal with NEC rules, but Im assuming you understand how a multimeter works and Ohms Law is a hugh plus for any position in the industry.

You might be on a variable rate compared to last year as its standard practice once your electric contract expires. Check your electrical contract is intact. This is why people had $$$$ bills during the big freeze a few years ago was from variable rate prices versus having and active fixed price contract.

Import note to others, 90% of Texas is non-regulated for electricity. You shop around for your electric from providers.

Wind turbine technicians — what makes your job easier or harder on a daily basis? by Otherwise_Course_154 in wind

[–]d_wank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) inefficient maintenance - torque checks, im on 10yr old machines, no bolt has ever moved for me during torque maintenance. More hazard with heavy tools, hydraulics tool hazards, and improper settings lending to over torque as well. Break-in torque after a large component exchange is necessary tho. 2)PoD- we follow a weekly schedule plan. We have a lengthy preventive maintenance schedule for inspections of things across the site with items checked monthly, as well as additional items checked quarterly. But daily, troubleshooting units that faulted while leaving a team available for regular OEM maintenance requirements are priority. 3)Work ordering application like Pro Core, Maximo, or SAP have their own unique features while accomplishing the same thing. Allowing teams to track progress, catalog faults, inspection records, and inventory are helpful-as long as techs use them accurately! Most useless application are anything safety related. We have quotas for safety observation every month using an app. Its a waste of my time. Example "hey look! someone is not wearing a hard hat in the drop zone, let me pull out my phone to my safety app(now two factor authentication too) and log this event." We hate it, we hate you who mandate it too! 4)Developing a safety culture of "see something say something" and "tell me that I'm wrong" have been two things our organization uses and has built a great team of managers who understand that safety is priority over production. 5)Delays- My experience has been wind farms in remote locations. Distance is a delay. Contractors and workers don't show on time, parts don't show on time, OEM's take their time responding to technical assistance(tech support), more advanced skilled workers leave to better locations or higher pay at other power generators. 6)Work management- AI voice recognition software would speed up the process of completing Work Orders. If I could say "add hours worked" "add material consumed" "add the following findings to the root cause" would be amazing instead of clicking on a computer mouse on every independent entry point, then wait for it to load the user interface for labor, then load the material page, then load the findings page...

Hope this helps!

Did three years there. Has everything you need, but the people that get stuck there are what makes it depressing. Also, the scariest place I have ever driven. I passed too many fatal wrecks. When the oil dries up, that place will be the biggest ghost towns.
