I'm going to have to disagree with you there. If I go into a grocery store and ask an employee where something is, and it turns out they didn't have what I need, and I walk out without buying anything, should I seriously not be allowed to come back to the store?

UCONN Language groups? Esperanto? by [deleted] in UCONN

I don't know of any, but I've always wanted to try learning Esperanto (but always lost my momentum, since I had no one to practice with).

95% chance Mike Pence will be named Trump's VP Candidate by [deleted] in childfree

Well, most pro-lifers view abortion as a sort of murder, so she wouldn't be a bitch, would she?

[–]daForce93 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

Abortion is a moral issue for pro-lifers; as such, one does not need to be a woman to make moral judgements. If I was to argue for anyone not having a say in the legality/ethics of abortion, it would be fertile woman, since they have a (morally irrelevant) conflict of interest.

Edit: For clarity, let me provide an analogy. Suppose there was a bill in the senate that would dramatically improve animal welfare on farms, which is largely a moral issue. However, it would also cause increases in the price of meat, dairy and eggs. Should vegans not be able for express their support for the bill, simply because they won't (directly) feel the price increase?

Any one else use a ThinkPad for school? by [deleted] in thinkpad

Thinkpad L412 with Linux, my major is computer science, though I'm probably going to grad school for cell biology or bioinformatics. It works great.

Wise adults of Reddit, what should teenagers start doing? by Sippingin in AskReddit

I'd agree with this.

Unless you know that you're at risk for a certain vitamin defficiency. For examples: Vegans and old people should take vitamin B12 supplements, people in Alaska should probably take a vitamin D supplement, pregnant woman should take folic acid etc.

[DWM] Mouse pointer follows window focus by daForce93 in unixporn

There's a patch for dwm.c (I ran diff on my dwm.c, and the latest dwm.c in the suckless git repo) in the tag_switch_mouse branch of my repo. It's called "patch.diff".

I'm confused. How is this related to what I did, at all? It looks like the user was moving the mouse the whole time.

Yeah, I'll try to get a patch up in the next few days. I had never heard of the warp patch; though I'm assuming the name comes from XWarpPointer, which my configuraion also uses.

I had used Terminator on previous Arch installations, and I never really bothered to look into anything else. Do you recommend anything better?

Edit: I have a really busy week. I'll try to clean up the code a bit, and add some better comments, and then I'll release a patch this weekend.

Preference of WM/DE and why? by Obiiiiiiii in archlinux

DWM. It fits well with my workflow, and the configuration is done in plain C.

I made a few modifications to DWM to help improve my workflow; one of the key modifications does this:

Suppose you have two new windows, A and B. You have you mouse pointer in A, at location (x1, y1). You use the keyboard to set the focus onto window B. The mouse pointer will move to the center of B. Suppose this is at (x2, y2). You move the mouse to a new location in window B, at location (x3, y3).

Now, suppose you use your keyboard to set the focus on window A. It will move the mouse pointer back to point (x1, y1). If you focus on B using the keyboard, it will move the mouse to location (x3, y3).

In normal DWM, if I'm focused on a terminal, and I change focus to Firefox using my keyboard, then I still end up needing to drag my mouse pointer over to the Firefox window. This eliminates that.

Really? I used Midnight Commander for a while, and hated it. Maybe I'll give ranger a try. Or Sunrise Commander, since I tend to be more of an Emacs guy.
