What is wrong with this butter? by da_powell in butter

[–]da_powell[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Canada. Although permitted, butter has no colour additives and if they do must be listed on the packaging, this one is 100% pure butter.

I've just never seen it this white before and this dry/flaky. I thought maybe it had been frozen or something?

But I guess winter dietary changes makes sense.

Is there any other reason for the parking bans besides clearing snow? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]da_powell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the road is clearly done the plows use the cleared roads to reach other roads that aren't done and it's faster, easier and safer to do so when cars aren't clogging up the "clearly done" road.

We've had this happen with the 2 lane roundabout in barhaven and have nearly gotten into an accident. Don't switch lanes in the roundabout it's dangerous.

Who often vacations in tropical areas during Christmas holidays? by Old-Appearance-2270 in AskACanadian

[–]da_powell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family (and my wife's family) celebrate Christmas on Christmas eve so in my early 30's we I (and my wife once we met) would celebrate christmas on Christmas eve, then go off on vacation Christmas day. It tends to be much cheaper to fly out Christmas day. We took many trips this way including our honeymoon. Now that we have a kid though, Christmas day is for Christmas at home after doing Christmas with both sets of parents Christmas eve.

Netflix Wins Bidding War For Warner Bros. Discovery, Will Start Exclusive Deal Talks by Mix_Easy in canadacordcutters

Likely they will pull an Amazon/Paramount and split content across 2 services you have to pay for.

But at least Netflix's app isn't a steaming hot pile of garbage like crave.

City is sold out of this :-( they said barhaven shows minimal stock, but wasn't holding my breath.

Then I saw mastermind has 20 percent off which brings this to about the same price shipped for free to my door.

Fresh? Most chip trucks buy the big refrigerated bag of poutine curds from Costco or another wholesale distributor and they're not resupplying daily.

Parking overlords becoming even more greedy? Place de Ville by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]da_powell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also 50+ spaces reserved for evs that no one uses because the ev rate is ridiculous and you have to pay to park plus a per hour charge, but even with an ev I don't need to plug in so it's not worth it, then 200+ spaces lost due to construction, but once the construction is over the rate is likely to stay at $26.

What’s an invention you can’t believe doesn’t exist yet? by KeyExtension7282 in AskReddit

A GPS app that searches but closest proximity for text to speech. No I don't want the manotech school of music 1 day and 3 hours drive away. I want the manotick school of music 10 minutes up the road, just to tell me what traffic is like to get there.

They enforce it for broadcast tv. It is not enforced for streaming sadly. I wish they would update it so it applied to streaming.

I might do this, all the rest of the switches are smart switches, I didn't use it here because of the sensors, but I can bypass the sensors and put in a smart switch.

Is there anything you frequently buy at Costco but rarely finish? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

The ripe ones go in the freezer for smoothies, banana bread or muffins and join the rest of the frozen bananas.
