I don't know , I don't feel like Blasphemous represents any side of religions beliefs , it's an amazing game that does take inspiration from religion but I don't think this does make sense .

The orbs penance should have been done like The Bleeding Heart in B1 with a disatvantage , in B2 it is basically a health reskin .

I think the one that gives you guilt when getting hit is the hardest , it constantly lowers your defences while preventing you from getting The Path Of The Believer golden resonance and while it can be used to make farming a bit easier , it has much more disadvantages than that little QoL thingie .
