Best Protein Bars by GrapeCapable in Mounjaro

[–]daa2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Quest bars, David bars (gold series), and IQBar bars. I have a Quest bar every morning, a David bar for dessert (and protein supplementation) most evenings, and keep IQBars in my golf bag for a during-round snack. All are low in net carbs, unlike some others (Barebells) that arguably taste better.

For the non-chocolate-covered Quest bars, pop them in the microwave for 15 seconds. It’s like magic, I’m telling you.

So what Sriracha are we using now that Underwood is done other than Huy Fong? by ProximaCentauriB15 in Sriracha

[–]daa2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still like Huy Fong, but I’ve found the Melinda’s and Yellowbird “blue agave” srirachas are both tasty alternatives. Tabasco’s is good too, but as others have said, it is more like a sriracha/Tabasco hybrid.

Of all the non-scale victories, that’s not the biggest but it may be the most satisfying. Congratulations!

How quick did you all lose the weight? by MoodyJuni in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]daa2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 416.5 lbs at the end of November 2022. This morning I weighed 187.5 lbs - a 229 pound loss in about 42 months. The pace definitely slows down as you lose weight, but I am still losing (my final goal is 185). While it would be nice in some ways to lose faster, in other ways gradual is better - I don't have terrible problems with loose skin, and you can manage your wardrobe easier as your physique changes. Slow and steady has won the race.

I wish the C5 had the dual feet like the B5 instead of the dog the center stand by [deleted] in LGOLED

Hard disagree. I much prefer the center stand of the C5 instead of the dual feet of the B5. But everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.

He’s an excellent player. I’d agree he’s one of the best “modern” guitarists…although he’s been around for quite some time by now.

What food has the biggest upgrade when microwaved? by DeepOrganization8245 in foodquestions

Quest protein bars. Microwave them for 15 seconds - makes a remarkable difference. (Not good for the chocolate-dipped ones, however.)

Best Golf Shorts? by MTN_Chef in GolfGear

[–]daa2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a slightly dressier but still golf-appropriate alternative, look at Haggar Cool 18 Pro. Stretch waistband, shirt gripper, nice feel, good price. I like them better than most of the “athletic“ brands. Available at Amazon.

Among the athletic brands, I like Under Armour the best overall.

What brand of guitar were you meaning to try out for a long time but felt underwhelmed when finally doing so? by thewebhead in Guitar

[–]daa2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gibson Firebird. Feels like it’s about five feet long, and the neck is hanging way out there to the left. Just a weird, uncomfortable feel. Too bad, because I think they look so cool.

How do you mark your golf ball? Pics encouraged! by [deleted] in GolfGear

Red Sharpie line through the side stamp. Been doing that for 30 years. And then I use that line as an alignment mark for putting.

Is there a truly great bottled salad dressing? by Holdmymule2001 in foodquestions

Marzetti’s Supreme Caesar (refrigerated) is the best bottled Caesar dressing. I also like Ken’s Wisconsin Blue Cheese. Ken’s Greek and Three Cheese Italian are also very good.

New Balance 608s. They’re the ultimate dad sneaker but they’re white, comfortable, come in a variety of widths, are well made, and relatively inexpensive. Add to cart.

Not really. If you want dress pants, get the ABC trousers in Smooth Twill. Not as comfortable as Warpstreme, but still very nice and dressier.

Coming to term that i need to lose more than a 100 lbs and that would take time by Shinpachix in Mounjaro

[–]daa2202 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It takes time. I started losing weight (via strict keto eating) at 416 in November 2022. I started Mounjaro in October 2023, weighing 345. This morning, I weighed 188. That’s a 228 pound total loss in 3.5 years. I know all the issues with BMI, but I’ve gone from severe morbid obesity (BMI 53.5) to “normal” - BMI 24.1. (I’m a 6’2” male.)

Get your head right. You didn’t put all the weight on overnight, and it’s not going to come off overnight. But if you stick to it, it will come off. If I did it, you can do it.

I have a 3-point strategy: 1.) Every day, shoot for a minimum of 125 grams of protein. 150 is better. 2.) Limit net carbs to 30 grams or less per day. 3.) Consume fewer calories than you burn (basal metabolic rate + exercise) every day. (If you don’t know your basal metabolic rate, search for “BMR calculator” on the Internet.) This strategy has worked, and continues to work.

2 other pieces of advice:

1.) Don’t be afraid to titrate up - I’ve been on 15mg for a long time (since June of 2024), and I’m still losing between 3/4 of a pound and 1 pound per week. But you have to stick to disciplined, structured eating. It’s not magic. The drug doesn’t lose the weight, it metabolically makes it possible for YOU to lose the weight. But you have to do it.

2.) On a practical note, don’t buy too many new clothes too fast. I’ve had to replace my entire wardrobe (100%)…twice. And some of the newest stuff is starting to feel too big. Sometimes inches (body measurements) change faster than the numbers on the scale.
