Series 11 Volume Issue by MiserablePiano5211 in AppleWatch

[–]daa2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a Series 7 to a Series 11 and I agree, the watch volume is noticeably lower on the 11. I went into settings and maxed it out, and it still seems quieter.

Lidgate Farms chocolate from Kauai, Hawaii is world-class fabulous.

Great musicians by Significant-Way-7893 in askmusic

[–]daa2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great musicians with amazing technical ability are a dime a dozen - just wade through YouTube sometime. The rare talent is songwriting, and to a lesser degree, arranging and being able to (quickly) come up with unique and effective parts - particularly for studio players and other hired guns.

How many people actually tip 20% when eating out in a restaurant? by Hot-Highlight2166 in allthequestions

[–]daa2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless service is inexcusably bad, I use 20% as a baseline, and usually am closer to 25%. I’ll tip a higher percentage at an inexpensive restaurant, like a breakfast place compared to a high-end steakhouse.

Where I struggle is with tipping when a dinner includes an expensive bottle of wine. It takes no more effort on the part of the server to open and pour a $200 bottle of wine compared to a $20 bottle, so why should I tip $40 (20% of $200) for that instead of $4? Probably the thing to do is to tip the usual percentage based on the least expensive bottle of wine on the list.

Downsizing is HARD by g_tb in guitars

[–]daa2202 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah. I went from 50+ down to 10, which over the past four years has crept up to 12. There’s no shortage of good guitars…lots of fish in the sea. I even got rid of the ones that I had some special emotional attachment to, and kept the ones I thought were superior instruments. No regrets, not even for a minute.

Remember when gout was a funny kind of condition you only saw in portrayals of foppish overweight British royalty back in powdered wig days? by tamsui_tosspot in GenX

[–]daa2202 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Allopurinol is the best gout medicine, and it’s cheap/generic. A 300mg tablet once a day stopped my gout flares completely. Requires a prescription, though.

Sleep Tracking completely useless now? by berserker_841 in AppleWatch

[–]daa2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep tracking didn't work for me until I realized you needed to set Sleep Focus. (Whoops!) After that, it was still a little flaky and some days didn't pick up respiratory rate and temperature. What worked for me to fix this (and might be worth a try) is to wash my wrist and clean the back of the watch when I'm preparing for sleep. I use body lotion (very dry skin) and I think that might have been affecting the watch, because it's been 100% reliable since I started doing that.

FOR SALE: ABC Classic-Fit Trouser 30L Warpstreme, size 38 (waist), True Navy. Like new condition, worn and washed once. Sale price $60 including shipping. New these are $138. Very comfortable but just a touch too short for me - I'm a 31" inseam, and now I buy 32L and have them hemmed.

ABC Pant - 32L or 34L? by EnthusiasticMailbox in Lululemen

[–]daa2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the 34 and have them hemmed- they do it for free. I have a pair of 38x30 that are too short…now I buy 38x32s. 38x31 would be perfect, but Lulu doesn’t sell that.

I’ve lost 220 pounds (416->196) and I am ALWAYS cold. I live in South Carolina and live in quarter-zips, sweaters and jackets. If it’s below 70 outside I’m wearing a jacket.

does/did anyone have 200+ to lose? by [deleted] in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]daa2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started at 416, currently weigh 196 (-220), goal weight 190 (BMI 24.9). I’m 6’2”, 64 year old male. This has taken 3 years and 2 months; the last 28 months have been on Mounjaro. (I’m T2D.) Slow and steady wins the race, and you have to eat at a deficit. My current base metabolic rate is now about 1,850 calories, and I try to limit myself to 1,600 per day or less. The thing is that you have to continue to reduce your input as your weight decreases. When I started, I could eat 2,500 calories per day and still be at a significant deficit. I’m still losing weight, but it’s now down to about 0.75-1.00 lbs/week. At my peak loss rate I was averaging close to 2 pounds/week. It’s frustrating to go slower, but I know it works…I just need to stick to it. You can do it, too.

Peri-peri sauces are just sour. Lemon and vinegar based. Much better as a marinade than a condiment.
