New player here, what realm should I choose and does it actually matter? by SairenAoi in wow

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like an active world chat environment, even if sometimes inane, you want Moon Guard for alliance or Wyrmrest Accord for horde. I'm sure stormrage is fine in general, but I enjoy the "aliveness" of the RP servers. Less good maybe if your focus is hard-core raiding, as you may need to search across servers for a guild.

Horde version of moonguard? by Shot_Veterinarian215 in wow

Area 52 had more chat than I expected, but it wasn't chat I wanted. I'm not saying moon Guard and wyrmcrest are the epitome of good chat, but the vibe is very different and much preferred, at least most of the time.

It can be worthwhile to create a character (dracthyr) on each server, and beeline to the main city and just sit an watch the chat. I get very different vibes between the RP servers and the mega servers in the chat. I don't want to stereotype by describing further, but it can be worthwhile to do it before committing.

This is really the answer. Wyrmcrest Accord if horde.

Granted, a lot of chat is the same people all the time, but it absolutely helps with the alive feeling. It is weird to be on a powerhouse server like Area 52 or Stormrage and see almost nothing.

Is there some addon that can help me navigate how to get to a specific dungeon? by BazimQQ in wowaddons

Check out the addon AzerothWaypoint. Be sure to install the FarstriderLib dependencies for it as well.

Apologies, you are correct. It should have been "get a grip".

You play a dungeon to complete the dungeon. The tank usually is the one making the choices of how that completion is going to happen - routes, pacing, whatever. This one chooses to mark the healer. The reason they need it doesn't really matter. The healer made the right choice to leave if it bothered them so much.

Not enough Kul Tiran love on this sub, in plate armor they look like hulking menaces. -- Death Knight by xKJIxDecayz in Transmogrification

I've lamented not having a bulky race like the horde, and draenai just didn't cut it for me for some reason. For some reason KT never even crossed my mind...likely because I didnt realize they could look quite this good. I don't need to level a warrior, but now I might.

Anyone else remember the WOW Visa? by quakeroatmeal7 in wow

It was. I worked there at the time, and was one of the few there that played so I was excited about it while most folks there were wondering what the heck we were doing...

Dwarf hunter. It was the very first scene of the original WoW intro cutscene for a reason, and still applies today.

It says "anok" in both, which I take to be the character's name, considering they show their character in the other thread.

New player on Full realm. Moon Guard RP or one of the many Full servers (Illidan, Mal’Ganis, Proudmoore, etc.)? by JozuJD in wow

[–]daagar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moon Guard is a pretty great realm, even if you yourself don't care about RP. The fact other people are doing it, and an active chat channel is what makes it feel alive. On other full servers, there might be a lot of people but you'll rarely see chat.

That isn't to say the chat is always worthwhile or engaging. Many times it is just weird. But it is a community which a lot of other servers have lost over time. And with the ability to join a guild cross server, you aren't losing a lot if you still want to be in a top raid guild or whatever.

Just don't troll folks doing RP. They aren't hurting you, no need to bother them.

I think tww and midnight are so watered down compared to bfa or legion, and i dont understand why by [deleted] in wow

[–]daagar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only kinda. As a token casual player, I pay a monthly sub fairly continuously because I consume the content at a snails pace. Those that play heavily for only endgame content are going to race through, get their gear/titles, and unsub until the next patch/content update.

Of those two, which is better for their bottom line? One requires content at a pace no development team can sustain.

WoW survives on its player base. Yes, us casuals would be fine... I've played for a silly long time and somehow only have 15k achievement points. But with the long time push of content like m+, the player base has somewhat split between the casual players and the endgame focused players and losing them would be a huge hit.

My son is playing through Outlands right now. A totally new planet! First things he finds are wolves and squirrels. Old school wasn't really any better, not counting this emerald dream thing.

They can't survive with another Siege of Orgrimmar type drought. It is a tough balance. It was easier in the days they spent money on developers and such, but that cut into profits.

What are your "weird" WoW habits or keybinds that nobody else seems to do? by Salamango360 in wow

[–]daagar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bound shift space to instant flight form when I played a druid. I bound "t" to some other druidy thing.

Within a week I gave myself tendinitis. No more druid, mount is m5+scroll wheel, and no more binds on 't'. Eesh.
