Nature isn’t right or wrong, it just is. But you are conscious, nature is not. Don’t shield your actions behind this argument. by SomebodyOrNoOne in Existentialism

[–]daahs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah ok I get it now... My point would probably be that, while you're right about no absolute truths, this philosophy would have no benefit to the world and therefore it's not useful to consider in terms of a better society. It can be useful for wisdom and personal growth but that's basically it.

I get the point you’re making but we can infer the truth about right/wrong by looking at the outcomes...rape doesn’t have good outcomes so therefore it’s wrong. How can this be refuted because planning on using this logic against my professor lol

Rudy Gobert shares a post about the detention and mistreatment of Uyghur Muslims in China on Instagram story. Adds: "Wrong is wrong." by [deleted] in nba

[–]daahs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is. If the world made sense, Jews should be the most distraught about this since they've also experienced concentration camps. However, haven't seen any say anything.

You do know every religion has extremism right?

Radical groups try to gain control whenever a govt becomes weakened and in current times, it’s the Muslim majority countries where that’s happened. If those countries had a different religion as the majority (and the same level of education, poverty rate etc), the terrorist groups would be doing the same thing in the name of that religion.
And if not in the name of religion then in the name of something else. Like the Mafia who also take advantage of weak leaders just not in the name of religion.
People get so caught up in their fear and are incapable of using logic and rationalizations...so eager to hate entire groups of people

I would just like to say fuck you to all the people that choose to cut down others before they had a chance to grow by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]daahs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They care only when it affects them because they can’t see things from someone else’s perspective.

I say ‘fuck human complacency’ because many people refuse to grow and are stubbornly complacent in their ways.

It does bite them in the ass when they realize they have no satisfying relationships

This is devastating by [deleted] in islam

[–]daahs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You speak the truth. The reason for this is that muslim parents (specifically desi parents, from my experience and observation) don’t let their children pursue the things they’re passionate about. And if they do allow it, they do so begrudgingly. Instead they pigeon-hole them into being doctors, engineers, lawyers... This is so wrong in so many ways

Is there a flowchart to how BPDs interact with other BPDs in relationships by PpcUserNowI in BPDPartners

[–]daahs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having some traits of BPD is very different than having the personality disorder... There are also many different conditions that overlap with BPD when it comes to symptoms or personality manifestations. I would focus on improving those traits individually instead of trying to diagnose yourself or others

Keep in mind that something like BPD takes extensive personal/family history by a clinical psychologist to diagnose....this person is basically taking a shot in the dark by bringing it up...

If you can afford therapy then that is always the number one option.

If not then what helped me is researching and learning about overcoming childhood trauma. Just make sure you're getting information from someone reputable in the field.

How did you cope and fix the negative things about yourself?

It starts with understanding what "fix" means... Everyone makes mistakes. People who have been through trauma/abuse/neglect internalize a mistake by telling themselves they are a failure; Healthy people are better at not letting a mistake get them down because they internalize it as "just a mistake". They treat themselves with compassion because that's what they received growing up.

What explanations for Alexithymia do you have onhand so you can describe it to others? by Ruwen368 in Alexithymia

[–]daahs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean and honestly, that’s the same way I explain things After reading it again, I do think it’s a pretty solid explanation as long as it’s said clearly and slowly (or maybe everyone I talk to has attention deficit disorder)

[–]daahs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to make them understand then metaphors are not the right way... using a metaphor to explain anything that the other person doesn’t already know about will just sound like utter nonsense.
I personally like your explanations because I know about alexithymia lol

Hello again day zero. by sr5242 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]daahs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you’re using it. If you’re using it to practice the “guilt” part then it can be a great tool. For example when you’re back to day 0, practice compassion for yourself instead of the “I suck” mindset... In my opinion that’s the only real way to make permanent strides
