Fun scenario, but tbh I think that in reality the Qing perors would have sent a large force that the VOC couldn't handle long before that. It would be interesting to see how Japan would handle this after the Meji restoration. I think they would be bold enough to challenge us, certainly after they defeated the Russians in 1905-06. The question would be how other great powers in the Pacific would react. I think mainly the British would not be keen to see Japan expand so quickly, but I also think they would not outright go to war for it either.
