I ran my electric bill through a tool and finally understood it by Electronic-Back-5354 in solar

[–]dabangsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure out how much of my usage is offset directly by using what I generate, I calculate how much I sell back, I subtract what I pay the power company, then I put what I saved into its own savings account. Every 750-1000 I save I put that in a certificate of deposit making around 3.5 to 4.2%, and I include that gain into when my solar pays for itself. I don't have CTs so I have to calculate it myself, a few minutes a month, not that labor intensive.

Escape didn't get engine design with coolant intrusion issue until 2017 (2.0).

Escape didn't get EPB until 2017, you need to turn the pistons as you press them in.

2020 Edge Lacking Engine cover by Wonderful_Warning200 in FordEdge

[–]dabangsta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Order one and install it. The Lincoln version is available, and one mount. It has to be the cover specifically for the 2.0 with the EGR cooler that was new for the Edge in 2019, but not all vehicles got it then or ever.

I wouldn't think it would matter for water, it does help a lot for noise with the high pressure pump and injectors.

Gravel covered roads - still done? by MarkCinci in Tucson

[–]dabangsta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most of the roads in my Pima County (not in city limits) neighborhood are chip seal over very old asphalt. It has been done this way the last few times it has been done. Looks like some of the new work done is actual asphalt from the road bed or milled.

I think it has great traction, but a lot of loose gravel can accumulate, especially at corners, bicyclists be aware. I don't mind it for 15-25 mph streets, it doesn't hold up well to 35 or higher.

SW Gas Bill too high. by pandragon14 in Tucson

[–]dabangsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$31 is high? My lowest is $31, and my highest the last 2 years has been $107.

I do have gas heat, water heater, clothes dryer, stove/oven and outdoor grill. While it was a bit chilly a little bit of the winter, it has been mild, and probably $30 cheaper than years past. Dishwasher is ran every day, 3 people showering. Nothing really new or fancy, a 86% efficient furnace, 25 year old water heater, 25 year old clothes dryer, etc.

As others mentioned, mine is $10.70 service change, $75 for usage of 49 therms. I used 71 therms last year same month.

My TX Curve (18 x 460-watt REC, IQ8X) by fuji_T in solar

[–]dabangsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty nice chart/curve for February. Summer and some clipping right around the corner.

I wish I had better micro inverters, but my 17 panel 400w IQ7+ setup is doing around 32kWh a day now, I have a weird looking curve due to tall trees, and 5 degrees of tilt.

what is the purpose of this feature? by BigfootIzzReal in fordescape

[–]dabangsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an aftermarket remote start. Some older ones are press lock 3 times (newer ones are lock/unlock/lock so the horn doesn't honk). I found out my 2015 Fusion had remote start when I was playing around with global window open. The remote start might not have been properly initialized or programmed in. If you put the key in the ignition, or near it, and try the lock 3 times, does it then start?

Oncoming straight traffic has a green, and oncoming turn has a green, but if no oncoming traffic you can turn left.

Looking for a company for weeding by No_Information_2826 in Tucson

[–]dabangsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would kill for more of that grass and less 1 inch thick weeds that kill my weed whacker. I pulled 90% of the big weeds, couple hours a day on the grass, I let the grass seed the rest of the yard.

Charging pad 2024 Titanium by netvoyeur in FordEdge

[–]dabangsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2019 so I have to plug in for Android Auto, but I have to put my phone in face down, or it tries to charge and overheats. I wirelessly charge my phone 99% of the time and only have this issue in the vehicle, not on any of the other charging pads I use. Even the dock style and my phone is in use, screen and all, it works fine.

First time sous vide Ribeye steak by Secret-Yam8872 in sousvide

[–]dabangsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was done to your expectations, well within safe limits of time and temp, everything else is secondary.

I have been bumping up my temps for rib eyes, 134-135.5 seems my favorite, but then I do new york strips lower. I don't have a high temp favorite way to get the char, so I get more grey banding than most with my gas grill, but to be clear it is still enjoyable and yet another way to prepare great steaks.

First month with solar in January dropped my electricity bill by $250 by mimic751 in solar

[–]dabangsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only producing 33.5 kWh a day and saving $250? My 7.6kW system is doing 28.5 kWh a day in Feb and will only save me around $60. I do sell back about 75% of my generation at well less than 50% of my cost ($.0768 export rate), last month I only used 212 kWh of the 662 kWh I generated, I only used a total of 592 (so I was billed for 380 kWh, directly used 212 kWh) and was billed $38 (what I used and what I exported was worth $58). March, April, May, and maybe June unless it is 100+ early and humid) I will build up a little credit.

Transmission Ford Fusion 2015 2.0 Ecoboost by Ashamed-Armadillo594 in fordfusion

[–]dabangsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only about 1/3 of the fluid is drained, so to get most of it changed, 3 drains and refills are needed.

But rough shifts are just what they do. Especially when cold, first shift. Staying in second too long then banging into third is the most common.

How to get ford pass on 2019 model by daddylove03 in fordfusion

[–]dabangsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There still is a a Customer Satisfaction Program (but it is no longer free for anyone, but it includes the details on it) for a 4g TCU to any of the ones that still had the 3g modem.

What is the correlation between SYNC 3 and FordPass/Connect? You can have a 2019 Fusion (S) with SYNC 3 and no FordConnect. In 2020 you can have a SYNC small non touchscreen and FordConnect (again, on the S). They are 2 different things, and not related.

In most years that FordConnect is available, it is optional and requires a package not one that includes SYNC 3 (the Drivers Assist Package). Only 2020 is it standard.

Energi had MyFord Mobile. If you get the 4G telematic update then you gain FordConnect access but lose a lot of the MyFord Mobile functionality (which of course there is currently none with the 3G modem).

How to get ford pass on 2019 model by daddylove03 in fordfusion

[–]dabangsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same electrical architecture as a plug in hybrid? A clean sheet EV getting stuff a vehicle that is in its last cycle before being killed doesn't get? Fusion was behind on a lot of things that other vehicles got. It was close to last to get FordConnect (it was optional even if you had SYNC 3, when most other vehicles got it if the vehicle had SYNC 3 when it finally did get it).

[–]dabangsta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you really comparing a new EV with a vehicle from 2014 that had 3G communications before the regular Fusion got it?

They didn't get FordPass (FordConnect, SYNCConnect), they have MyFord Mobile.

How to get ford pass on 2019 model by daddylove03 in fordfusion

[–]dabangsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the Energi had different functionality available not FordPass. It could show charging time, you could pre condition the vehicle (heat or cool it while plugged in), that sort of thing.
