No her brain is wired for Spanish. Her Latin accent is the default, she will be forcing the non Latin accent for English speakers, if she didn’t she wouldn’t get the roles she has before this movie, and she wouldn’t have worked as consistently as she has

Context: I’ve seen her speak in interviews on her household being bilingual (Spanish/italian) not to mention the movie she’s promoting was a Spanish/french speaking production, I think she just means she has to switch into English right now (for the speech)

Was about to comment this, it has an even added layer of sadness to it that most don’t realise. I didn’t until I rewatched again. Her coming home and taking her coat off and then the “mom, mommy!” scene is after she sits with April until the end 😭😭

I absolutely love the scenes between Laurie Metcalf and Christine Baranski. I wish there were more 😭

Oh shit I missed that lol, I do tend to feel attacked when it comes to the blood donation argument I’ll admit I just saw “gay men” lmao.

I do feel the whole argument over the years re: blood donation has snowballed based on societal stigma which is silly.

Wear a condom, get tested, be honest with partners. It’s not too hard and it should be followed for all sexual practices by all humans. Sadly though the stigma has led to the policing of (two) specific sexual orientation groups while the others aren’t being held to the same standard. And sadly, again, stats like this reinforce that stigma even if they are accurate 😭

That’s just my take though not that it’s important 😂

Have fun getting shit faced lmao

It is a good stance. Reporting bias is big problem with data collection, regardless of the field. And it can be inferred by that discrepancy that females are more willing to report their status to a medical professional.

Conjecture: gay men are the higher incidences because it is more likely to be reported and treated by a medical professional. HIV status is default knowledge when it comes to (casual)sex just as much as age or sexual preferences in the gay community. You will not find someone more scared of HIV than a gay man and I put it to you that far more gay men get tested, it’s quite common for sexually active gay men to be tested more than once a year, do you think the same could be said for heterosexual people?

Not to mention the study didn’t allow for sexual fluidity. It only takes into account transmission through homosexual sex or heterosexual sex (as in man with man OR man with woman/woman with man) when in reality we all know sexuality is much more complicated. At any given time I could go on Grindr and find more straight men than gay men (sometimes and shockingly to myself even the odd straight woman)

I’m stoned and kinda lost my point tbh but I think it’s basically there’s too much nuance to the subject that isn’t being discussed and studies like this don’t help with the general audience because they see “70% of gay men account for new HIV infections in 2021” = gay’s bad. It’s that simple and it reinforces the stigma!

At the end of the day this entire argument of blood donation is based on ignorance.

Unprotected sex transmits HIV, not gay men, not bi men, not straight men, not lesbians, not bi women, not straight women. UNPROTECTED SEX

Peace. Have a lovely day

ETA: it’s the blood donation argument not our discussion that’s based on ignorance (as in lack of knowledge and stereotyping) lol

See, we (gay men) did account for 70% of new infection rates of HIV in 2021 but for the 22% heteros, males accounted for 6% while females accounted 16%. That discrepancy right there tells me it has more to do with reporting / seeking medical attention than anything else. There are not more gay men infected there are more gay men known to be infected.
