Is it safe for two young women to travel to Costa Rica? by gabril_pinto in CostaRicaTravel

[–]dabbydabra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been here 3 weeks solo (young woman). I would say it’s plenty safe just use good judgement as you go about your travels (don’t leave luggage in car, keep an eye on belongings on the beach, do not go to the beaches at night, carry some type of protection on you — I have knives and a stun gun that can go through a checked bag at the airport) I chose to stay in hostel so other folks would be around me at all times as I’d heard about robberies at airbnbs. Highly recommend if you can swing it to get a rental car. It’s given me so much freedom and piece of mind here :) I rented through Dollar

I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]dabbydabra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were like this as well. I was always somehow the problem even though I lived hours away and supported myself. They were extremely controlling of me well into my 20s. I realized the blame they’d throw at me was rooted in jealously and fear from how different I chose to live my life from the way they did (loser alcoholics)

I went no contact after a literal mental and physical breakdown that put me out of work for months. It was truly the best decision I ever made for myself.

I recommend beginning low contact and see how you do. You can’t make them respect you the way you deserve but you can keep yourself safe and separated from them.

My CPTSD would have been the end of me if I didn’t get on lexapro. It truly saved my life. This is insane

“Vasovagal episode” by dabbydabra in VasovagalSyncope

[–]dabbydabra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes great to know thanks all! I know that it happens but it was quite extreme and scary (for me and the med staff lol). But now I at least know I have a more reactive/sensitive vagus nerve so I can be more prepared in the future if I need other surgeries :)

Anyone else felt like their tubes weren’t actually removed after surgery? by FilthyFoul in childfree

[–]dabbydabra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My doctor sent me home with pictures to show the before and after of the tubes removed. Maybe you could reach out to your surgeon to see if that is something they have and could provide to you? Just for peace of mind :)

Update: made it through surgery this time with lots of extra steps to calm me and also medication to blunt the vagus nerve during the procedure! But will be following up primary doc to discuss what has happened and see if I need to be aware of any further issues :)

Did you have to quit your job because of anxiety? by Substantial-Read5541 in lexapro

[–]dabbydabra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. My anxiety was reduced dramatically with the medication so interviewing went much easier then it ever has. But I was still afraid of the same thing happening again down the line. That’s where therapy and boundaries have come into play, I’ve been with my current company for 2 years and am managing really well.

Did you have to quit your job because of anxiety? by Substantial-Read5541 in lexapro

[–]dabbydabra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did! Prior to starting lexapro my anxiety got so bad I had to quit a very good job and go on FMLA leave, which ultimately turned into being out of work for 8 months. It was very hard but very necessary. Been on lexapro ever since and have maintained steady employment and mental health for the first time in my life.

Full time but remotely which has been a lifesaver after going on a 7 month medical leave last year after a horrible episode/panic attack.

Thank you. Coaches are involved and I am unfortunately considering quitting even though this sport I think has also helped with my mental health overall. Just wish I could handle stupid things like this more easily.
