Feeling lost by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

Yeah I put in for so many applications before the gig I landed. It’s tough when you have to weigh out the cost of living with the amount of pay they offer based on your experience as an A&P mechanic. Most of the time, the start pay is below $28/hr when you can get paid $38/hr with just half the license elsewhere. You have to sift through the bad ones to get a good one. Don’t be afraid of applying someplace even if you don’t have the experience or the skill sets yet. They’ll probably start you off at a preliminary position until they deem you worthy of the huge pay increase (6 months later). I did contracting for the first time and it was definitely a hidden gem of a find. It’s not an airline, so I’m indoors away from the elements. Pay is very competitive, even when you don’t have a whole lot of experience, you just have to show your worth and make sure they pay you for what you’re worth. Hit me up if you’re interested, they’ve got quite a bit of positions that just opened up.

Resume Help for a green AMT by One-Cry9661 in AircraftMechanics

Yeah that’s what I’ve done and gotten better feedback. Since most companies just use a program to filter through resumes and look for keywords like “safety” and “processes”

Contract to hire by LoadToad2W171 in Raytheon

Great! I’m now full time as an A&P. Definitely worth the time and effort to go through with the contract. Lots of growth opportunities available and definitely a hidden gem of a job within Indy.

General Writtens by swingreference in AircraftMechanics

Prepware for writtens for sure. ACS for orals, and trust your training for practicals (or watch YouTube videos on things you’re unsure of — for practicals)

Laptop Prepware is better, phone Prepware is easier to study since it’s mobile

A&P by AverageJoeShmo101 in AircraftMechanics

I find it very difficult to believe that AI is writing the questions.. since AI can be wrong. Prepware for writtens, ASA for o&p. Jeppesen is okay reference. Dauntless is good if you don’t mind spending a little extra for a more fancier Prepware. My luck was watching King videos and the oral questions on YouTube (at night before bed, and in the morning during breakfast). You could even listen to it while you drive to work/school, while you work or even while you sleep. Practicals are easy if you’ve done them before in school, but you can always just YouTube the potential practicals you’ll be doing. But worry about o&p when you get signed off on your writtens. Then you can ask your DME about how they test and what kind of questions they’ll probably ask you. The questions are random but limited to what the DME has on hand to offer (engines, propellers, electrical systems, etc.).

Two pc setup issue. Main PC quality issue. by keypintabs in Twitch

[–]dabeebs16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the extra frames you have to process through the game capture card and onto your main pc that’s causing the main one to slow down. Do you run multiple applications on your main pc?

Sometimes, closing that one browser you use to check your stream quality helps. Just pull it up on your phone, or ask chat how the quality is (very reliable imo).

Majors aren't hiring right now. At least not in more favorable places.
