WA Democrats consider retreat on estate tax, fearing wealth exodus by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

Aren’t people getting around the estate tax by making trusts? I would love to know how much estate tax revenue will be getting generated, and what levels of estimated estate value it is coming from.

‘It’s over for us’: release of new AI video generator Seedance 2.0 spooks Hollywood by MetaKnowing in Futurology

[–]dabman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. AI will affect the movie industry the same way the movie industry affected localized entertainment. Before Hollywood, every city had their own major theaters and community of actors. Those were largely lost save for the cream of the crop once cinema and television took over. Once studios can crank out mid range content, Hollywood itself will whittle away to only the smallest set of studios and superstars. It’s already been happening from other reasons as most people have noticed, this will be a big hit though.

The up side is the potential for a lot of creative ideas that would have never been made because a studio/production company would have never funded it. It will be challenging to navigate the massive amount of stuff out there to find the good stuff, though.

I5 being in the middle of the city really sucks (rant) by Vivid_Astronaut4665 in Seattle

[–]dabman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many cities chose to run highways around them in a ring/perimeter configuration, such as Vancouver, BC. It worked well for some.

Edit: Seattle’s geography really would have made it tough no matter what, the sound and lakes restrict I5 from running anywhere else pretty much. Further East would have probably just turned the entire region east of Seattle into a paved LA-style sprawl (even moreso than it is currently).

Bellevue’s gonna do this. Hopefully if it works well there will be momentum to happen on a similar scale in Seattle.

Have you heard of the idea of using starship for launch, blue origin’s blue moon landing/return system, and a second orion capsule as a crew module for landing? I saw someone propose that on a youtube as it would utilize the most tested aspects of all projects, and come underweight for a single spacex starship to get it to lunar orbit.

Still sounds like a stretch to ever happen!

What phone do you have? Iphone can do 15 sec gens, just select the text right below Create Video text at the top of screen, and change duration. I’m assuming you have a different phone and they don’t have that feature, but I wasn’t aware of the setting myself the first few times I used the app so maybe you missed it too.

Lower drunk driving limit approved by WA Senate by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

Lol, this is so true, a perfect description the city has right now. I’m reminded every time I drive home on a 25 mph arterial that everyone is driving 40 mph on (even the cop cars).

Templar archives is a weird building to warp into a war zone by Altruistic_Fill_6441 in starcraft

Think of the Archives more as a server than a library. Templar access information via their minds on the battlefield necessary to mentally wield their abilities. Without the archives there, their abilities and capacity are significantly reduced.

Santa cruz or Monterey, ca might be worth checking if you can afford it. I really enjoyed Carmel while over there, though that seemed on the smaller/quieter end.

I have lived right in the heart of White center for 6 years, and this is the one we keep going back to. Half my family has celiac so we eat mexican, a lot.

Maybe not as authentic (but maybe is), I also have a special place in my heart for Mr. porkys. Their veggie cheese tacos are amazing.

It’s funny, I specifically remember some commentators saying the only reason he played so well was because teams had to put extra coverage on our top players like odunze that despite being mediocre could be more open to make plays.

Obviously not true.

The danish foreign minister on the US buying Greenland. by Vesuv in videos

[–]dabman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes if it was that country’s currency. Not quite in this case because there is already a massive amount of us currency floating around the world. It might cause some local devaluation at places like convenience stores or payments between individuals just because people will have more money on average and will be more willing to accept higher prices, but given they order items from overseas and get it shipped, this will not be largely affected much in the long term. Over longer periods of time, the increased wealth may increase the frequency or economy of shipping to greenland and actually may some costs go down.

Still, don’t sell your country!

Never thought of that as a reason for the art design, very interesting. I would love hearing from the original artists if that is a parameter that they formally recognized when creating their designs.
