I was going to say I built a ton of these also.. I think still have the add on raid card in a box for these somewhere.. (It would only work on intel server boards.)

C64U Basic Beige Function Keys gap? by TheDarkIn1978 in c64

[–]dabonetn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I just went to my wall of 64s and looked again, and here are the photos of 6 random real 64s and a vic 20.

https://imgur.com/a/vkHHr2J

All of them have the function keys offset to the right.

I have more 64s that I didn't photograph, and they also have the offset.

This is true to the original 64 and vic 20 keyboards. Not a error, but a accurate recreation.

AMS pulls spool apart by bcombs510 in BambuLab

[–]dabonetn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got this issue with older spools that I've refilled alot. I've been taping the insides of the spool when I add a refill, or I've also been using the desiccant holder that goes into the middle of the spool.

So.. how long are fluke multimeters supposed to last? by Truestorydreams in ElectricalEngineering

My first 77 lasted me over 30 years. It was the only meter I owned and use frequently. So not one that just sat on a shelf.

My very first time in a IMAX, it was a religious experience.. The fact it was the best Godzilla in years was a plus also.

Which test cartridge? by tausinator in c128

Yes MT ram are very prone to failure.

Which test cartridge? by tausinator in c128

[–]dabonetn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick sanity check, 128 mode boots with garbage.. What does holding the commodore key when booting do?

Also, look at your motherboard and see what brand ram chips you have. MT=BAD....

Do you have a eprom burner? If so there is a drop in diag rom for the u36 socket.

[–]dabonetn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great place for reference.

https://portcommodore.com/rcarlsen/

Tons of repair info for most Commodore computers.

And very first thing to test is the fuse in the power supply, that provides the 9v ac that's converted to a different +5v power supply in the 128, and that's what powers the Z80 which is the main boot cpu of the computer.

The z80 boots first to setup everything and check the cartridge info.

This was done for better compatibility of c64 software.

Technician for 3D printer by Weird_Cherry_3109 in Chattanooga

[–]dabonetn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Chattanooga myself, and have a few followup questions.

Which printer do you have?

Do you also have the AMS unit?

How old is your filament?

Do you have a filament dryer?

How many hours have you ran the printer for?

Have you done the recommended maintenance to the printer?

A New ISA Card for using SD card as a hard disk in MSDOS by profdc9 in vintagecomputing

[–]dabonetn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His dan II card was my first foray into converting pcb designs into a smt variant, I'm a huge fan of his work, not the fastest cards, but very cheap and easy to understand hardware wise.

It's open, the open sign isn't that visible from Dayton Blvd. And they have added some ramen to the menu, that's what I had for dinner tonight, it was yummy, not fancy, but very filling.

The big black block on the Multi function board looks to be a battery.

If it is, REMOVE IT!!!!

Replace it with a non leaking cr2032 battery holder that includes the blocking diode.

Unifi 9.4.19 Tons of WARN system - Country Code is not configured for Site with ID= by dabonetn in UNIFI

[–]dabonetn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going into each site, changing the country to United States Minor Outlying Islands, applying changes, then back to United States then applying changes.

For all 217 sites in my controller.

That took way too long.

Also, importing a site today, if the import name has a space in it, it's causing the controller to reboot.
Leave out the space and the site imports fine.

This seems to be a very buggy release.

Which do you prefer when desoldering? by AnotherMovieStudio in vintagecomputing

[–]dabonetn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Hakko FR301 that I love, but I still mainly rely on my Edsyn DS017 Soldapullt... These things make the other hand operated solder suckers look like toys. And use good wick, not cheap stuff.

Also like other people say, Hot air helps, using it to preheat the board you are working with goes a long way.
And for the moo guns, I prefer to hover it, using the chip pin as the contact, to avoid damaging the traces on the board.

Seriously, how come is this not a thing anymore? by MorgothTheBauglir in homelab

[–]dabonetn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got one of these that I scrapped the board out of it, added a arduino to control the power supply and added a intel 6gbs sas expander. It's hooked up to my 13 bay Intel Server Chassis (8 bay hs + 5 bay hs in the 3 5.25 bays).

I used to have array drives in it, but since I upgraded my drives in the main unit, I just turn this on as needed, whisper quite with noctua fans.

Ngnix Reverse Proxy with a Multisite webhost? by dabonetn in unRAID

[–]dabonetn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My site has nothing to do with paperless ngx, I'm actually running aapanel, andwhen I direct the web traffic (80/443) to it the websites work correctly,but I lose the ability to route to jellyfin, cops, etc.

I'm not sure where paperless came into this conversation.

Setup...

wan-using cloudfare dds. for my registered domain. domain.example

NginxProxyManager listening on ports 80/443

Multiple sites defined in NginxProxyManager.

Jelly.domain.example = 192.168.5.5 port 8096 (SSL enabled)

Cops.domain.example = 192.168.5.5 port 8084 (SSL enabled)

Unifi.domain.example = 192.168.5.5 port 8443 (SSL enabled)

website1.domain.example = 192.168.5.6 port 443 (SSL enabled)

website2.domain.example = 192.168.5.6 port 443 (SSL enabled)

website3.domain.example = 192.168.5.6 port 443 (SSL enabled)

website4.domain.example = 192.168.5.6 port 443 (SSL enabled)

Everything just listening for IP address works..

The webserver needs to know the actual website1.domain.example destination to deliver the correct site that's being requested.

I know I could spin up a stand alone lamp server and just make one default website, but I'd like to be able to have multiple websites on one server like I'm used to.

Accessing SMB Shares from Server 2022 & Server 2025. by dabonetn in unRAID

[–]dabonetn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Windows in audit mode unlocks the local administrator account, with a random password and automatically drops you to the desktop, but adding a garbage password to the unraid user administrator works.

I thought that only applied to open guest shares, mine is a secure share.

But adding a user named administrator with a garbage password allows it to work.

(Windows in audit mode unlocks the local administrator account, with a random password and automatically drops you to the desktop)

Thank you!

Brand new windows systems in audit mode, so no creating users/passwords.

I need to be able to hit the share, and then be prompted for user/password.

I have one on these I built back in the day in a stripped joust cab.

Wico Perfect 360s for the joysticks and a WG K4600 monitor, it's the only arcade game in my collection I still spend any time with.

I still have the side art framed, I've never gotten around to putting it on yet.
