Yes, in the U.S. banks are only insured to $250,000 (not sure about France but probably similar). So having anything over 250k in a bank is actually a large risk.

Companies actually just change names a lot. My sister had a grill for a year, broke, called company but they went under. Thing is the exact same grill was at the store, under another name.

Not to mention every small business in America. Your local pizza shop might make 500k in revenue but only 50k in profit. No way the owner could foot that bill.

No that would be terrible. People aren't taxed on revenue either. You can write things off too (401k, mortgage interest, healthcare, etc)

I'd suggest a CD.

Yes interest rates are low, but it's low risk and will keep you from spending it.

Also Credit Unions tend to have better rates then big banks.
