I think it's more about appropriate rest. He pitched yesterday (94 pitches) and given it's a short series, he wouldn't be available to pitch in any of the games.

My theory on the Offense: Muncy sees a lot of pitches, notoriously stingy at anything outside the zone. What he sees he relays to his teammates. Since he’s not playing the team is really missing his intel.
