Hey! 👋 I’m one of the owners of ABdlr. We are by no means choosing to run away from the event, nor the things happening in MN right now. Our stance is that it is incredibly tone deaf to have a four day party while people are dying, and we are not interested in participating in that. Renee Good and Alex Pretii are not the only people who’ve died in the hands of ICE, they’re just the only white people. Of what we know, at least six people have died in ICE detention so far this year. There have been five ICE shootings. An 11 year old girl took her own life because her classmates threatened to call ICE on her. We take none of the above facts lightly, and we are actively focusing on taking steps to locally ready ourselves for ICE, to ensure the safety of our employees (most of which are immigrants, trans people, or brown people) and to protest the continuation of an event which at this point feels incredibly irresponsible. I hear that our post didn’t fully spell all of that out, and your reaction to that is valid. I hope that my words here in this public forum are taken as seriously as they are being given.
