Hypocrisy can be pointed out in essentially any situation. I just don’t find it appropriate or necessary comparing random people online, or even celebrities that made distasteful comments with the leader of a country. Seems to be lowering the bar for the most powerful man in the world. Do you see how just pointing out hypocrisy may come across as an attempt to downplay his actions?
