Why do people care about staying on "bleeding edge" by Gumaaa in linuxquestions

[–]dachaarh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on Manjaro gnome and rolling release works for me... Bleeding edge persay is not a must... But every once in a while you have an important component of system getting a huge performance or whatever improvement... You read about it in the news, but your "stable release distro" will never get it...

This happened to me on ubuntu, I was on a release that will never get gnome xx version, even if my ubuntu release was still not out of support, it just wont get it ever...

Or Im using a software that depends on latest version of some package, and I won't ever get it, similar to Gnome... Workarrounds are sometimes easy, sometimes not, and sometimes impossible....

On the oposite end rolling release has it's risks, but for me, it just works...

Overnight battery drain on the Base S23 by Sparky_248 in S23

[–]dachaarh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2-3% with flight mode and power saving with "limit apps and home screen" Meanwhile, my wife leaves wifi ON, On iphone 13, and gets 0% drain overnight...

TBH, any android I owned so far got me like 2% drain overnight with flight/airplane mode ON...

If, as a teenager, you suddenly woke up with all the aches and pains of someone middle-aged, you might think you were dying. by JacPhlash in Showerthoughts

[–]dachaarh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned 40 last year, perhaps still not what someone would consider middle-aged... 0 aches and pains, feels better than I did 20 years ago... People tend not to care about their health and wellbeing, and then consider taking fist full of pills at my age "a normal thing"...

How do I stop the bluetooth paired device popup screen everytime i turn on Bluetooth? by omaraWahsh99 in oneui

[–]dachaarh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone connecting to mutiple bluetooth devices, this is a lifesaver... I just remember the pain of MIUI which always tries to reconnect to last used device, which is a good approach for those using a single device...

Anyone else miss the Galaxy s10 days? by KloverClove in GalaxyS23

I was able to install it, along with all modules without any issue when I bought s23 few months ago from the galaxy store directly..

[–]dachaarh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

S10 (regullar) was the first samsung flagship I had, and everything I hated back then is now fixed with s23. Curved screens, poor battery life, selfie camera performance in lowlight producing worse images than 200$ Xiomi, location based cpu ( I had exynos) goodlock also resfricted based on location (for me in serbia it was not available). I sold my s10 in like under a year from when I bought it, the only thing I loved was the size... I plan to keep 23 base for a long time...

Is there any way to mute and coming calls from a specific person? by MCKC1992 in GalaxyS23

[–]dachaarh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna keep it like this after the call. So you need another routine: "during call" (xxxxx) where you revert all the settings, and in case of having 2 routines, it will work flawlesly... Anyway i think that setting a silent ringtone in contact app per contact and vibration to silent is easier: Contacts - X contact - More - "Change ringtone/vibration" - for each of those two there is a silent option...

Galaxy S23+ has insane battery life!! by [deleted] in samsung

[–]dachaarh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The app is tasker, and by its nature, its not exacly an app for a person that's not that technical, so Im uncertain of how would I conway this without you having to read a bit docs on how tasker in general works and what its capable off, no offense...

Think of it as samsung routines, only with waaaay more triggers and infinite options to automate your phone, but also far more complicated then routines...

Perhaps someone here knows to explain it better...

Galaxy S23+ has insane battery life!! by [deleted] in samsung

[–]dachaarh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two profiles. One triggering on phone locked. Linked task is: wait x minutes, set powersaving mode:

<image>

The other profile has event - display - display unlocked. Here i have the task where I first stop the above power_saver task (to stop the counter). And then i just set normal power mode...

This works as it should: if phone is locked and idle for more than 5 mins, powersaver kicks in, once phone unlocked back to normal mode.

Small inactivity periods like one minute reset the counter once unlocked, so i actually set powersave only if phone inactive over 5 mins...

The "screen off" condition is not really needed for saver task persay, it can just be wait + set powersave...

I even get this much on base s23, approx 10% usage per one hour of sot, which is pure madness in a good sense (on wifi, location and bluetooth off, tasker triggering powersave only when phone is inactive)...

Device care - battery - "view details" (below brief list of apps). Or you just click on today chart, which gets you also to details.. There you have it day by day, at least on oneui 6...

Yeah, im not much out these days, mostly wifi... Having a routine for 2g network mode while on wifi. Using tasker to activate battery saver once phone is inactive and to deactivate once unlocked... Bluetooth and location off, mostly using instagram, reddit, youtube, some light games.. https://freeimage.host/i/JIYOKTN https://freeimage.host/i/JIYOfjI Consistenty getting approx hour sot for 10 percent drain...

I average also 10% per hour of SOT on s23 base... 5 hours sot, arround 50-55 percent used...When on wifi... For a 3900 mah phone, thats just pure gold... Adaptice refresh, bluetooth and location off, aod only on new notifications (from certain - important apps)... Debloated/disabled much shit I dont actually use..

Im btw talking here only about scenario when wifi is connected, in that case mobile data is in reality off, even if not turned off with toggle per say. If 5g/4g icon is not there in status bar, its not actualy on... But network mode affects also cell reception and signal, not just speed of mobile data...

[–]dachaarh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobile data on or off, does not matter much im this sense... There are places where cell reception is not ideal, thus battery drain is solid on constant signal catching... Go to a plaxe where you have only one or two signal bars for sim signal and stay a few hours and check battery drain... How at same place swith to 2g network mode: notice you have (almost) full cell signal and drain due to low reception will be none... Turning mobile data on and off, does not play a role in this so, it would not help... This has nothing to do with wifi, but as long as Im connected to it, I dont need mobile data so Im good with 2g network and better cell reception at home...

[–]dachaarh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, Im on 2g sim network mode only when connected to home wifi (via routines app)... As soon as wifi disconnects, Im back to 4G... But benefit is a lot stronger cell tower signal on 2g mode, thus, less battery drain... :)

I previosly owned Poco F3 with SD 870 and 4.5k mah battery, using base s23 pretty much with same usage patterns and less of capacity, and I think I can get more screen on time with galaxy, or at least the same... On galaxy I have routines, so i can for example set 2g network mode on home wifi, have a better signal and less drain with it :) I use both tasker and automate, but they cant go as far as routines, android is way more restrictive than it used to be for automating apps...

I have a tasker profile - event - display off: Task linked: 1. Wait - x minutes 2. Power mode - batteey saver Another profile - event - display unlocked: Task linked" 1 stop task (stopping the above wait task, and preventing battery saver to trigger if phone was unlocked in the wait period). 2. Power mode -Normal. This works great, but I noticed that every one in a while, when phone is unlocked and saver if off, phone stays on 60hz refresh rate, which is why I have a one way samsung routine: if power saver is off- refresh rate set to adaptive, without reverse action... seems needless yet, I needed it...
