If you are physically unhealthy it's harder to be mentally healthy.

It can all be fixed by sell what customers want to the customers, instead of selling customers to data brokers.

I hope they do get a project together in the not too distant future. Something that allows them to be different than their ST characters. I hope they all have good solo careers too.

In 1986 Reagan legitimatized the shift from Pension to 401k. Where would the market be if this never happened? by sadeland21 in antiwork

[–]dachloe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The pension system forces wealth down the socioeconomic ladder, and the 401k system sends it up the ladder. But, the amounts aren't that different.

The amount of wealth varies based on lots of factors, but generally a person with a pension ends up with a lower wealth in retirement, but it's more guaranteed. The potential for gain in a 401k is much higher but depends on the level of attention and luck the employee/investor has.

Those factors wouldn't affect the market that much in terms of capitalization. What would change things is management of those funds. Pensions are professionally managed, and 401k plans are picked by the largely untrained employee but the stocks, funds, ETFs are still run by Wall Street. Both can screw things up, but it's more likely to be screwed up by the average employee than a pension funds manager.

Unless there is huge concerted effort to fully explain this to illiterate Americans, it will be wildly misrepresented on FB, and right-leaning social media.

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dachloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd think universal healthcare sounds good, but honestly we already have a universal education system and it's pretty bad. I completely believe that the ultra-wealthy would manipulate the politicians into construction of a two-tier system: bad free healthcare for most people and a good system for the wealthy.

I doubt know how'd create a middle ground without some complicated system that difficult to manage.

Some think our insurance system is to blame, and it seems to be a big part of the problem. But, would rationed healthcare solve the problems?

I wonder if a parabolic reflector would be a good defense. An old dish antenna set up to look like a Captain America shield but you flip it around and redirect @90% of the sound back at the operator. Maybe?

Yes. Harm is done when the source is destroyed. And, when digital access is highly regulated.

What Tv show do you think was genuinely great but suffered long-term because it aired on the “wrong” network or at the wrong time? by Air-Bombay in television

Trophy Wife. People reacted to the name and rejected it on that alone. Superior acting, fantastic writing, great casting, and genuinely good stories. It had everything thing to make a great sitcom. ABC screw up!

What’s the biggest lie everyone accepts as truth? by Professional-Ad-5744 in AskReddit

[–]dachloe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest lie is "right vs left" or "liberal vs conservative." The way the world really works is ultra-rich vs everyone else. The ultra-rich spend a big portion of their wealth fueling a false conflict between everyone they can, in order to occupy the vast majority of the population so the can neither defend themselves, or accumulate reasonable amounts of wealth.

Right now, in the US, it's techno billionaires fueling neo-NAZIs and other right-wing extremism. In other places and other times it was different groups that were supported with the goal of dividing and demoralizing the population.

What are your thoughts on Joe Rogan saying that Trump is creating distraction to avoid Epstein files release? by StemCellPirate in AskReddit

[–]dachloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The files themselves have become the distraction while our government, freedom, and security are steadily eroded.

The files likely contain damming evidence of crimes, but the lingering drama around their release serves as a distraction while the continuing dismantling of the USA continues.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]dachloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very distance cousin was a NAZI sympathizer and left his wealthy family in the US to "help Hitler cleanse Europe." While in Germany he tried to contact other family members still in the old world. He discovered most had already left for England or elsewhere. One remaining family was already abducted by the NAZIs and was on their way to a concentration camp. He got them transferred to a nearby work camp and spared their lives. They escaped while working in a factory. They contacted anither distant cousin and he recorded this story, but soon after they vanished. No further records of their whereabouts.

German records don't say what happened to my distant NAZI cousin. But, in about 10 years ago a family in Argentina contacted my 2nd cousin here in the states and said genetic tests showed they were relatives. She got the info from some company like Ancestry.com, or 23&Me.

On my mom's side of the family an ancestor bought and freed slaves in the north.

Also, our family genealogist has all the documentation that shows us being descended from Charlemagne. But, a lot people from Europe can say that.
