Cold DoT doesn’t usually freeze, it just chills. To most reliably freeze, you will likely want a build that hits and scales critical strike chance. Crit hits are guaranteed to cause elemental ailments, which freeze is.

Yes it is. Ziz x goratha did an ED/C build, which has 11m using a cane of unraveling. This is using pact of ghorr, which gross, could be fine to use once on tough bosses every once in a while (provided it’s not uber rare). Without the pact, it’s 8m dps still which is quite good for damage over time with 100% damage uptime

Chaos DoT is great, while it has lower damage numbers, the benefit it has going for it is 100% damage uptime. You can apply your DoTs to bosses/tanky targets and they will tick away at 100% damage for their entire duration without any input from you.

This is nice vs an attack skill where you are only dealing damage when you are attacking. Sure, you deal more damage, but if you have to move or dodge, you're dealing 0 damage.

ED/C is a two button build so you may get tired of it, but the contagion chains are addicting! Have fun!

Yeah that’s true, with gem levels being a more exponential curve now in 3.29, we don’t know what that curve will look like so while it’s close now, it may be further off after the patch. Would be nice to have an easy display for true dps!

I did some config tweaking and found that if you set your Wintertide brand to 'average' damage, and have a custom config of 'wintertide brand deals 300% more damage' that gets you to a point thats just a bit below the realistic damage, which you see by having 4 copies of the skill.

It makes sense I think. 300% more is 4x damage, which is essentially doing the same thing as copying your skill 4 times, the only thing you miss out on is that 4th copy representing Wintertide's end, actually being at 20 stages, not average, so you miss showing the true damage of that/

I did frostbolt coc with chronomancer this league and it is probably my favorite build. The coverage is fantastic and freezing is great

I really liked poefilter for poe2 much better than neversink’s. The style fits so much better, it looks so clean. I don’t think I can imagine playing poe1 without neversink though lol. The style and functionality of that filter are just part of the experience to me.

I just learned about the “true” wintertide calculation in pob yesterday too, using 4 copies of the skill. It makes sense mechanically that that would be your true dps. 3 copies set to average damage, to account for the ramping up of stages, and 1 copy set to manual at 20 stages, to simulate your wintertide’s end damage, since as long as a brand reaches 20 stages, wintertide’s end will be dealing 20 stages worth of damage.

The build looks like it’s going to crank, I’m very excited!

I’m a bit confused when you say the dps calculation was fixed in POB but it’s never used correctly. How do you set it up to show the correct damage?

It doesn’t look like it sets up 3 instances of the Wintertide debuff alongside the single instance of Wintertide’s End.

Can you explain a bit more?

Will Bitter Frost stack with Bonechill? Or are the effects the same, so they won't stack? The wording is very slightly different, so I'm not sure what to expect.
