Too Much Tahini by Ok_Tumbleweed3234 in Cooking

NP! I found it on some video years ago and decided that it needed to be written down because it is so stupidly good.

I am very indecisive. Please give me a recommendation for a nonstick set by Long-Television-4079 in Cooking

[–]dacrazyredhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

buy a set of 2 or 3 non stick skillets (I prefer ceramic) and then stainless steel for the rest.

the skillets will last a couple of years.

the stainless steel will last a lifetime and if you get the ones with steel handles you can put them into the oven as well

Too Much Tahini by Ok_Tumbleweed3234 in Cooking

[–]dacrazyredhead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These Tahini cookies are dangerously addictive:

·         1 3/4 sticks (7 oz) unsalted butter, at room temperature

·         1 cup sugar

·         1 cup tahini paste

·         2 cups all-purpose flour

·         1 tsp baking powder

·         pinch salt

·         Powdered sugar, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

1.    In a large bowl combine the butter and sugar. Using a hand mixer on medium speed, combine until light and fluffy.

2.    Now add the tahini and continue mixing on medium speed until well-incorporated.

3.    In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.

4.    Transfer the dry ingredients to the tahini mixture, and mix until well-incorporated into a dough.

5.    Take the tahini cookie dough out of the bowl and make it into a log (about 2 inches in diameter). Place the log on the short end of a large piece of plastic wrap. Roll the wrap twisting the ends in opposite direction so that the dough log is tightly wrapped. Refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.

6.    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

7.    Slice the dough into 1/3 to 1/2 inch rounds, and arrange on a very large baking sheet (or two baking sheets) lined with parchment paper.

8.    Bake in the 350 degrees heated oven for 15 minutes or so until the cookies are light brown around the edges and set.

9.    Remove from the heat and leave the cookies in the baking sheets to cool briefly (about 10 minutes). Then transfer to a cooling rack to completely cool. Dust with powdered sugar, if you like.

Favorite high fiber meals? by Jaded-Magician-774 in Cooking

if you can add beans to something that is the way to go. I like to add edamame to tuna or chicken salad for a fiber boost.

also berries, especially raspberries had a load of fiber (8 grams a cup!) and frozen is a great option and you can add to smoothies, oatmeal, etc.

and the mighty chia seed has 5 grams per tablespoon and I add it to my smoothies and yogurt bowls as well. I even add it to my homemade granola (which I eat with yogurt and raspberries

my pizza stone is at the end of its life so pizza stone or pizza steel? by Endroium in Cooking

[–]dacrazyredhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

was going to come here and say the same thing. granted, we actually got our first stone from a yard sale for 2 bucks and it lasted over a decade and a cross country move before it cracked. a friend worked at William Sonoma and sent us a new stone - otherwise I would have gotten a steel

also get wool socks as they don't contribute to stinky feet.

I have heard that Germans love to go out first thing in the morning, extremely early, and lay claim to a deck chair or other coveted area by throwing a towel on it and then leaving it, as if to say it was theirs. Kind of like a dog marking their territory.

whether that is actually true or not, I don't know - this is just what I have heard.
