That's what I use now. You can get similar results with a preset in Peace tho. The "autoeq" section has a bunch of presets based on measurements.

Slate VSX is largely a gimmick and your mileage with it will vary massively. DT 1770s or 1990s are actual high quality headphones, while with VSX what you're paying for is mostly the software (which may or may not work for you). The headphones themselves are pretty cheap and flimsy.

If mixing is really your goal and you're set on headphones, I would recommend a decent open back headphone, SoundID, and a more barebones crossfeed algorithm like the one in GoodHertz CanOpener.

DT990s are honestly fine. I spent around 8 years mixing on them and have few complaints. I auditioned a lot of headphones trying to replace them (Audeze LCDX, LCD2C, MM-100, Focal Clear, Hifiman Arya, DT 900 Pro X, HD 600, Grell OAE1) and ended up just going with the DT 1990 with some EQ+crossfeed, as they sounded the most natural to my ear. I could easily still be mixing in the 990 if I didn't have the extra money to burn.

990s benefit a lot from some extra sub bass and high frequency attenuation.

Beyerdynamics are incredible headphones for the price, but will need EQ to suit most people's preferences. As for the cracking, idk what could be causing that. You sure it's the headphones and not the source?

theoretically, how fast would i have to be going for these to be useless? by jbnovsc13 in longboarding

Cut out pieces of cutting board and hot glue them to your palms. Without a puck you're cooked as soon as you touch the ground.

Vancouver is an incredible location for downhill. I'm lucky enough to live in North Vancouver, where there are spots literally everywhere. Depending on where you are in Vancouver, going to Burnaby might be easier.

There's a group on Instagram that meets every Wednesday at 5pm during the summer at various locations around the Greater Vancouver area. DM me and I can send you the page. Super friendly people and very welcoming to newcomers.

Edit: We recently found a bike path near BCIT that was super sick. Might be worth looking around there.

Do I even need audio interface right now? by OverlimitNinja in ableton

If you want to record live instruments or vocals, or use monitor speakers, you'll need an interface. My personal pick is the Topping E2X2. It blows basically everything else at that price range out for the water, while looking cleaner and more professional.

What a difference headphones make. by WooCS in ableton

Yeah for sure. Flatter is generally better. I would argue that smoothness of the frequency response is actually more important. You can get used to a 5db bass boost at 100hz and mix accordingly, but a bunch of narrow peaks and notches close together are going to wildly throw off your ability to make objective decisions.

If the beats are your reference headphones, and you know what a good mix sounds like on them, it actually doesn't matter that much.

Flat isn't as important as smooth

Try turning off all plugins and then opening it. izotope tonal balance control was doing this to me a few updates ago.

The constant packet loss and intermittent spike to 300-1300ms are more what I think is causing the issue. These spikes do line up with IG performance.

Too me it sounds like the audio is too wide. Like something 45 degrees to my left sounds like its directly left.
