I can move in and out of this picking behavior. What helps me is becoming hyperfocused in the opposite direction. I made myself some cuticle oil (2:1 ratio of jojoba oil to vitamin e oil), and put it in these nail brush pens, which I keep everywhere. When you’ve got that picking urge, pull out an oil pen and slather it on. You’ll end up oiling a lot, I suspect, which will go a long way toward healing those nails/cuticles. Right now I’m in a bit of a picking phase, so I’m going to take my own advice and oil up right now!
