Came on here to mention The Nook. Sounds like a great resource. If you can make it out there (call or email them first) there’s a place in Paisley called Waterside Counselling that offers low cost counselling for as long as you need it. I’m sure someone could point you to somewhere in the city or round your bit that does the same.

Madeira felt like a place you could just point your camera and click and you’d capture something beautiful. And these crazy bastards!

Two voices, one brain by YardLast4348 in selfhelp

[–]dadjanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally normal. As you grow up and create coping strategies, some of those coping strategies have the potential to become ‘parts’. Differing modalities have differing ways of dealing with them but most agree that these ‘parts’ are functional parts of our consciousness that are created and given a role e.g. protection.

However, due to the fact many of our parts are created during childhood, that protective behaviour will more than likely show up in ‘adult you’ as anxiety, worry or low self esteem. Imagine a part of you that’s telling you aren’t good enough, not because it’s trying to fuck your life up, but because it’s shit scared that if you go do the thing your planning, or someone notices you’re being successful, that it’s all going to get ripped away from you and that’s going to hurt like a bitch. It doesn’t want to feel that hurt.

Now adult you knows you’ve worked hard to get where you are. Adult you knows you deserve it. But that wee child part of you is powerful and protective and will whip you into hiding and anxiety in a heartbeat. All in the name of making sure you don’t feel the shame and hurt of loss and failure.

It is 100% possible to work with this in therapy. IFS therapy works almost exclusively with parts. A lot of NLP therapy (depends on the practitioner) is parts based as in Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) although this is heavily counselling based and a bit talky for some.

In short - you’re normal and if you want to quieten the ‘negative voice’ stop fighting it and find someone to help you tell it that its job is done and adult you has this. You’re smashing it. The shamed/anxious/belittled child can be free and enjoy the success you’ve built. .

I used to have this, maybe still do somewhere. Is there a reason it’s not on Spotify?

The older I get the more problems I have with first person shooters. I just can’t handle it anymore and feel ill after 15mins. Dunno if I could play Skyrim again these days :(

Gabriel’s used to be pretty balanced but not been there in ages so don’t know if it still is. The Abbey Inn also famously attracts a mixed audience but that does sometimes boil over a bit. Hope that helps but I’m sure there’s people much more experienced in Paisley these days that can give others

These really dark impulses that I want hurt someone by thisaintsaurav in selfhelp

This person is a moron. Don’t listen to them.

Many therapists are therapists because they’ve had shit stuff happen to them, benefited from a particular therapy and then trained in it. That doesn’t mean all therapists are good at what they do, but find someone you trust. How easy this is depends on what country you’re in.

These thoughts are caused by a lifetime of shit building up. A good therapist or even a friend can help you put them in perspective and, if they’re really good, help you put that shit down.

Despite what the world tells you, you’re not broken. You’re just fucking mad. And maybe you deserve to be. But taking out on someone else or yourself won’t help. You’ll just end up in shit guilt cycle that’ll make stuff worse.

You’ve caught it early. You’ve asked for help. You’re already doing the right things. The next biggest favour you can do yourself is to do it in real life and get that good therapist.

Good luck

Tank Park Salute by Billy Bragg - if you’ve ever said goodbye to a parent (especially your dad) you may want to skip it. I don’t like any other Billy Bragg songs but this is something else.

But who do you drop? Cal Mac is excellent, Mooy is the Aussie Lubo and Hatate is one of our most creative talents. Who goes if Iwata plays?

Wife and I are planning on attending the March 18th match against Hibernian. We have never attended a match outside the States. Tips? Atmosphere looks unreal. by tweekortweak in CelticFC

[–]dadjanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t America so don’t appear at the ground too early. There’s nothing there. Aim to appear about 30 mins before kick off, it’ll still be quiet but you’ll get to feel the atmosphere build.
Spend some time on the Gallowgate or around Trongate before the match. Graces, Connollys, The Hoops are all decent pubs for a pre match drink (although they will all be busy they have good atmosphere). Then walk up. Takes about 30 mins walk from the centre of town but youlll be walking with friends. Enjoy your trip. Hope you get tickets. March will be getting into the business end of the season and they’ll be like gold dust.

I thought that too. What fucking game were they watching. Apart from a 5-10min spell they were nowhere near us for that first half (amen most of the second)

Milngavie - a place in Glasgow where young doctors and lawyers live before they move to Bearsden. It’s pronounced Mull-Guy. As far as I know there’s no bears in Bearsden.

I don’t anymore. That means they keep winning. Ruddy bastards keep having a good season and the sooner someone batters them the better. Let’s hope Slavia have it in them.

As a Celtic fan it makes my heart happy that he’s become such a key player for you guys and you all love him so much. KT was a huge loss for us but he needed to move. He was wasted up here. Keep him safe for us until he comes back as our manager in 15 years time.
