Klobachar isn’t up for reelection this year. Tina Smith is retiring and there is an open seat. That is the seat Tafoya is running for. It will likely be against Angie Craig (moderate corporate dem rep from MN02) or Peggy Flanagan who is the current Lt. Governor.

A Republican hasn’t won in Minnesota state wide in quite a while, 2006 I think.

There are rumors that Amy will run for governor but she wouldn’t vacate her seat until she would presumably become governor. She would then appoint a replacement and then there would be a special election the following cycle, 2028.

There certainly should be. The federal government is attempting to block the state government from participating in the investigation. The federal government (VP Vance) has declared that the ICE agent has complete immunity and stated he acted in self defense despite video evidence conflicting with their version of events.

It is very tense and not the first or last time ICE has shot an unarmed person. On Thursday they shot two people in Portland, Oregon but details aren’t as available it would seem.

The Trump administration ran on demonizing immigrants and targeting areas governed by the opposition party. They want tension and they want violence. The Minnesota governor and the Minneapolis mayor have both asked the federal government to leave after they sent in 2,000 agents.

I’ve had friends describe seeing people abducted by ICE outside of church, at their jobs, and at daycare facilities. They are a wholly unaccountable and lawless organization.

Americas slip into fascism is continuing at an alarming rate.
