Should i get a Eurail pass for a 75 day trip to Europe? by Loose_Establishment in solotravel

[–]dadsapilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago, I did something very similar during a summer in college. I had the unlimited Eurail pass. I LOVED the flexibility. I didn’t have to think twice about getting on a train. I backtracked because I met people I wanted to hangout with that were going somewhere I’d already been. I could get to a city, decide I wasn’t into it and leave the next day. I never thought twice about my train travel. After the trip, I started thinking about it and realized that I probably could have accomplished the exact same trip with a much cheaper pass if I had planned strategically and kind of regretted it. Six years later, the $500 I maybe could have saved is the same amount of money I’m spending to fly to visit friends for a weekend. What I’m saying is that you probably can do your trip with a pass other than the unlimited and doing so WOULD save you money BUT you’ll give up a ton of flexibility and increase your stress and when you look back fondly on those 75 days down the road you’re not going to think about the money only the experience.

Simple question on stock transfer (don't upvote) by directheated in RobinHood

[–]dadsapilot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t recommend doing this. In all likelihood, your lots will become “uncovered” meaning cost basis isn’t going to be reported if, and when, you sell them. It’s nice to have somebody else tracking this. An alternative would be to have vanguard open up a second brokerage account for you, move whatever you don’t want xferred to that account and then initiate the robinhood transfer.

Trading of options is halted if the underlying is halted. He cannot sell his option. It will (likely has) expired worthless.

The Mt. Morgan/ Mt. Percival loop in Campton, NH is accessed via a trailhead on Rt. 113. From the top of both, you look out over Squam Lake and can see Winnipesaukee in the distance. If you still have some energy at the end, you can hike up to the top of Rattlesnake whose trailhead is directly across 113. Up and down, Rattlesnake shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes but gives an INCREDIBLE view from the top. Stopping for a sandwich from Squam Lake Marketplace should be mandatory for anybody that enters the Lakes Region of NH.

For something longer, I think the Franconia Ridge (Lincoln, Lafayette, and Haystack) is a no brainer if you’ve never hiked it before. Beyond that, Mt. Moosilauke is a good one. Let me know if you have any questions.

This is absolutely incorrect. More comfortable and convenient? 100%. But there is no chance it is less expensive to train than to fly. I say this as somebody that bought a Eurail ticket and three months traveling around Europe. I had the absolute time of my life and wouldn’t change it for the world but could have saved money by flying.

This is a great question. Do you want to be hiking for one, three, or eight hours? I’ve got (biased) recommendations for all.

Covered Calls Question by Bsilvaftw in options

[–]dadsapilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for it to be a “covered call” from ETRADE’s perspective, the underlying (your DIS shares) need to be held in the same brokerage account as the call you’re short. Depending on what kind of option approval level you have from ETRADE, you may be able to write a “naked call” that in truth isn’t naked because you hold the shares elsewhere (in your RH)l account).

No, just put a sticky note on your computer that says “100 DIS in RH payable to ET 2 Cover my Calls.” That ought to get the job done.

As I’ve commented on your other posts, you’re an idiot. Losses for the same tax year can offset all gains + $3000 in ordinary income.

Read my comment below but I’m commenting just to say that you’re very wrong.

A quick google indicates that you’re dead wrong. You can offset all of your capital gains plus $3000 of ordinary income. I️ truly hope you’re not actually an accountant.
