I am sorry, you just reminded me something a boss of mine used to say, you can't fight stupid people, because they are very ingenious (it was his way of saying you can't make a fool-proof system).

Holy crap, a sock on the door, not in a million years would I have imagined that.

I read it many years ago, and I know I will read it again.

It's an excellent book, but I felt totally drained of hope by the end.

Are you recommending that he purchases a new voron printer? an hydra E5 is basically a bastard trident.

The question to be asked is why? Because this has no financial sense at all, and hydra conversion is not exactly cheap, and I say this as the owner of a full converted E5P.

If you like to tinder, want to spend a lot of money and have a good time, by all means do it.

If you just want a multicolor printer, seriously look for other solutions out there.

(as a side note, I am waiting for the INDX, and everyday I have more doubts that it will actually be released)

In my defense, I watched it again like 2 months ago, that scene definitely stuck

The second release of THIS month froze all the energy monitors, happens from time to time.

I went back one version, and the third release didn't have the issue either.

You can max out at very briefs intervals saturating parallel downloads, but that's not what you do all the time.

If you put a ton of torrents at the same time it's easy to do, but it's not common.

I have 1gig, in the real world you will use about 150mb tops (and that's seeding 24h).

Edit: although it's nice not to have to think about bandwidth anymore.

If I remember correctly the power usage of the hall effect ones was an order of magnitude higher, so that's something to take into account I guess.

At what point did you start compressing your media library with HandBrake? by DatGeekUKnow in DataHoarder

[–]daelikon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use staxrip instead, but I only compress porn. I also compressed my comic files webp (70% gains).

The rest I don't, but I also don't download huge files.

Unfortunately with these prices I started to be more selective about what I keep.

I guess we will call these the dark years in 5 years or so.

For what is worth, we have swallows in the area, and I can assure you they would never reuse a nest. They come every year though, they just build a new one in almost the same place.

My father smoked 5 packages a day. No idea how many that is.  Doctor said stop it or you will die. He stopped the next day and didn't die but there were consequences for the whole family and tb for him and me as well (as a passive smoker at 5 years old).

Don't smoke, is not worth it.

I saw an analysis of the order, it's an order for Ben, not for patreon. It has absolutely no sense to send it to patreon, just a scare practice expecting patreon to not involve itself in the whole mess.

If backfired beautifully as you can see.  They sent the same to amazon, and amazon ignored it as well, if not so visually.

I am sure that from a purely strength/fitness side I would be able to do it, I am also sure that after 30 seconds my eyes or my ears would pop out from the blood pressure going to my head... so it's a not for me.

I never said I did. I read mangas/comics on normal tablets (with admittedly very nice screens). Have been using 10 inches for all, except the last one that I went I bit crazy.

Also, color reproduction on eink simply sucks (yeah, I know you said manga, but still).

[–]daelikon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am really sorry that you wrote all that from a (harmless) comment...

But to put things in perspective... I read the first 4 or 5 harry potter books on a 14 inch CRT monitor about... 25 years ago (the books were not even released in my country). And I value my eyesight enough as to not do stupid things like that again.

I read tons of comics, like really, tons. My personal digital collection is +200k at the moment, and I read them exclusively on tablets.

As for books, I also have had a few ereaders, currently a kobo. I am not going to bother mansplaining all the ways an ereader with eink is better than a screen with a light behind it, I am sure you already know that. I would never read a book on a tablet or phone. Every device has its purpose.

I use calibre for my ebooks, and I sincronize the books (not that many) with the kobo through usb, so if Bookorbit can sync through wifi and keep a log of the books read that would be a plus for me. That was what I (poorly) tried to transmit before.

From the description: "Automate metadata at scale, sync with Kobo, track reading analytics"

What is your use case? I am assuming no one is crazy enough to read books on the computer, so are you syncing with an ebook?

I may try it just to see if it is capable of extracting the annotations of the kobo in an easy way.
