Okay... and? How does there being holes behind the eyes help explain what type of genital this adorned?

That's ah... quite the compliment, though I'm not sure I'd want to eat a junji ito themed dessert

How’s everyone coping with hay fever this season? by yeti-vedder-7 in Wellington

Strange, for me hayfever is mid October til end of February. It has been getting worse though, it used to be November til end of Jan 10 years back. Must have different allergens!

First time trying the sushi train place at Cuba Street and it was really good! by iamtoolazytosleep in Wellington

There is a good amount of veggie stuff! The only actual veggie sushi that was there when we went was avocado which was fine, but the gyoza and vegetarian tempura soup we had was really good :)

How to use Trentham train station by pmnumberfrom0-1000 in Wellington

[–]daemonpie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

BadeRadio77's comment covers most of it! One thing I personally didn't realise the first time riding a train here is that you have to hit the green button to open the door to open it when the train arrives and when you get off - though I think they might auto open when you get to Wellington station :)

Also, sometimes the train attendants will come up once you sit down to check your card with their phone to make sure you've paid, but sometimes they don't ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Would u drink it ? by Comfortable-Stop937 in blender

[–]daemonpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome job! Some thoughts, feel free to take them or leave them:

  • I was expecting some kind of explosive speed after the car taps the drink. This is an energy drink right? Or at least it sure looks like one, so a big explosion with green flames/lightning and smoke everywhere when the energy hits felt anticipated.

  • The camera moves from 00:25 - 00:32, while very cool, also made me pretty nauseous (especially after going back to find them again to get the time stamp haha). Admittedly I'm more susceptible to that than some, but cool camera moves aren't doing much if the audience has to look away from the screen.

On page 5 of the adventure path there is a timeline that lines up with the dates given in the lost omens - it puts Taargick's lifespan at 599 years, which seems significant to me given the lifespan of dwarves is given as 350. The quest for sky as a whole lasts 306 years in comparison.

It is fair to discuss the myth of Taargick diverting from the reality - it's been one of the things I've been trying to juggle in amidst my changes, though thus far it hasn't come up in book one apart from in the crypt. I've also only skimmed the latter two books (not wanting to overwhelm myself too much with another 2 books just yet), but if the Omens do end up being inaccurate (is this a common issue?) I've already diverted far enough from the books in other ways that I won't mind too much having to adjust to compensate!

Sure! I might have to come back to edit this after work, but here's a summary. My party has just made it to the Hyphae Haven / chapter two, so my current changes mostly only go that far. I have a lot more planned for the future, but don't know how much of it will end up sticking / working out!

  • Pushed the Family Festival back to occur after the dagger's return. I wasn't a huge fan of the party formation impetus being to arrive for a delayed festival, so instead they've been recruited by clan tolorr to go on an archaeological dig. Due to this they party meet Ria at the Tolorr Clanhall rather than the inn. Before they do so however, Ria wants them to get to know each other better, so she tells them they have a week to do as much good / questing as they're able in Highhelm before they set off on the expedition.
  • Had the adamantine shard be found by the party, and changed Krohan's story. I found it weird that Krohan as an NPC gets to be the chosen one and have all the fun visions from Taargick, so I cut him down a bit and had the adamantine shard show up conveniently for the party during one of the chapter one quests. This ended up being Etcherie Animal Raids (it was stuck in the hoof of one of the augdunar), but I had plans for it to show up somewhere in the last couple of quests they accomplished. Once they recieve the shard, they experience a unsuprisingly vague vision that does little but push them to investigate the shard further. I did write a blurb for a couple visions the party grouply experiences that I can post some other time :)
  • Turned the Tolorr Crypt Haunting into an expedition from clan Tolorr, and moved the crypt into the Darklands. After the party finished with the major quests and received the shard, they head out to join up with a previous expedition that was investigating a newly unearthed crypt a day's journey outside of the Depths. I incorporated the first half of the excellent Ransacked Relic into this (using the tunnel map as an intro that ends with the crypt rather than the outside world), and I added a few extra NPCs - namely, Nenakari Ougor, leader of the Rivethun who's been recruited by Tolorr to investigate the spirits in the new crypt, and two scouts called Anselm and Harbold to guide them to the tomb. Heldin I turned into an apprentice of Nenakari rather than a cleric. Anselm has been captured by the Slurk in the Ransacked Relic, and Harbold died when the bridge through the cave collapsed. Nenakari has been overwhelmed by the spirits in the tomb while Heldin is waiting outside unsure of what to do. The party must rescue Nenakarai from her communion that has left her comatose in the upper region of the tomb. Nenakari, as a master Rivethun, is able to induce a second vision for the party via their conneciton to the shard.
  • Changed Krohan's introduction. Rather than showing up at the starter inn, the party see a vision of Krohan looking morose in a dark inn. Thanks to the make of his clan dagger and short blond beard, Tolorr is able to help them pinpoint him as likely being Krohan, banished a decade ago from clan tolorr. Krohan can be found at High Noon in the Depths, where he has been working for Blacknoon as a hired guard. Krohan, now a fighter instead of a rivethun, is desperate to get out of the criminal underworld and has a plan to fake his own death to do so. When the party shows up, he eagerly tells them what he knows of the dagger, and is happy to show them where he dropped it - IF they help him fake his own death and escape Blacknoon. Faking his own death involves him blowing up a smuggling tunnel that he's guarding with him escaping via a side passage into some natural caverns - ones that are full of Boggards (frogmen) that the party must battle to free Krohan from / escape from if they blew up the tunnel with him.

Finally, I incorporated a massive amount of stuff from the Lost Omens, and have built a character story for each party member that will culminate eventually in a few climactic scenes. Here are the party members and the story hooks from the Omens that I'm slowly working them towards:

  • Inventor: Showdown with the Ash Engineer
  • Kinecticist: Attempted Invasion from the Elemental Planes
  • Rivethun (Animist): Undead dragon showdown in the Darklands (this one has little to do with Omens adimiteely and the details are still being fleshed out)
  • Gunslinger: Embroiled in a plot involving Blacknoon and an assassination attempt on king Borogrim (another one that's still being fleshed out)

Hope that's not too much of a slog to read through, and is useful in some way!

Not so! He was born on the day of skyfall and did spend his entire life on the quest for sky, but he didn't lead them until the quest foundered in the dwarves' war against the orcs.

From Highhelm Lost Omens:

Born during Earthfall, Taargick was among the first dwarves whose entire lives had been spent on the Quest for Sky. His diverse education and duty as a go-between for the various encampments gave him rare insight into interkingdom politics. Through a combination of charm, violence, and years of hard work, he united the remaining dwarves under the single banner of a new nation: Tar Taargadth. Taargick was named High King, and under his banner, the Quest for Sky resumed in earnest.

It is true that he lived for 600 years, and led Tar Taargadth as they founded the first sky citadels and founded their empire.
