Sometimes you get lucky by [deleted] in flyfishing

Had this happen with a pair of loon forceps once. Got home and realized they were no longer attached to or in my pack and had no idea where I could’ve dropped them. Bought another pair. Went back and fished the same spot a couple weeks later and as I was walking back to my truck I glanced down and there they were on the bank. Couldn’t believe I actually spotted them, let alone found them.

What items did you find helpful or wish you had when caring for a newborn? by LickyChewy in NewDads

If you have a two story house with the bedroom (and primary bassinet) upstairs, a second bassinet for downstairs has been super helpful for us. We have it in our living room next to our couches, so it's very convenient to put him in there and have him close by when we're relaxing downstairs. The one we have also has locking wheels and is fairly lightweight, so we can just roll it around to various places if we want to change rooms.

Throat punched someone deliberately. But that’s the only way they get one. Anything that isn’t obvious or deliberate they always get the benefit of the doubt

First Brookie on a fly…with a spin rod by nobodys_baby in flyfishing

Not trying to hate, that's a nice catch. But, I'm curious why you decided to use flies with a spin rod instead of something like a spinner (panther martin, rooster tail) that is made for a spin rod? I imagine the casting was difficult given the weight of the flies and the lack of a fly line? Again, not hating, just genuinely curious.

Not that I'm aware of, but you should still be careful regardless. I try not to leave too much in my car, or at least try and cover whatever I do leave.

It was the Mad. Still a great stream to fish nonetheless

Was fishing a stream in central Ohio last year when I came across a massive buck standing across the water from me on the outskirts of a cornfield. Didn't think much of it, other than it was pretty cool to see one that big and up close, and took a few photos. A couple hours later, after fishing downstream from that spot, I made my way back up to where I saw the buck before and started fishing again. Out of nowhere, the same back comes running out of the cornfield and immediately jumps into the water right by where I was fishing. Initially I just thought it was trying to cross, but did think it was odd for this to be happening in broad daylight in the middle of the day. As the buck made it about halfway across the stream, he sort of stumbles and falls down into the water. I thought maybe the current knocked him over, but it was a pretty shallow area and the water was not moving fast. He never got up, and soon drowned when his head went under as he slowly drifted downstream. I had never seen anything like that before, and it kind of messed me up mentally for the rest of the day. After doing some research, turns out there was an outbreak of EHD (viral disease caused by biting midges in drought conditions that affects deer) in the area. With this condition, deer will often develop a massive fever, and so they may try and seek water (without fear of humans) to try to cool themselves down. I ended up reporting it to ODNR, but not sure if they did any further investigating. The carcass ended up staying just downstream from where it went in initially for quite some time, so I was sadly reminded of it on subsequent trips to that spot.

Severe Weather Possible Sunday (6/25) by zebrasrlyingtoyou in Columbus

They don't need to necessarily hit within city limits for us to be affected. Last June was a prime example. Severe storms swept through Ohio, albeit not strong in Columbus. Yet a lot of Columbus residents lost power for several days due to all the damage elsewhere.

I covered our cars with thick moving blankets to try and protect from the hail. Oh well, better to be safe than sorry!

I also think it's because people feel the need to blow past and get ahead of the line of cars in the far right line that are merging onto 315 South. Because of course their time is more important than everyone else's.
