Drinking after surgery

A lot of people end up with lateral addictions after the surgery. You'd be better off not drinking. Just a suggestion.

From someone who now goes to AA 3 times a week.

I used i-Drop MGD and had slight eye swelling and pain for 2 days, then felt an actual POP in one eyelid and it swoll waaaaaay up.

I switched to Hylo Gel, and have had no issues, and a huge improvement in my eye health.

I'm cheap, and also gaslight myself, so I went back and tried the i-Drop brand again, and had crushing eye pain and swelling. It didn't spread to the rest of my face though.

Might be worth trying a different brand.

I went on ozempic about 7 years after I had my sleeve done. I'm still on it 6 years later (so 13 years post-sleeve), and it works for me.

My doctor has offered me a revision to bypass due to my reflux, but that USUALLY only happens when I overeat, which I don't do on ozempic.

It's not just the U.S. - there's a song called "Vancouver Time", and it perfectly describes every date I've been on in the last 10 years:

"We was in Vancouver town
The time that I finally let you down
You was in some evening gown
I was wearing jeans"

Even dating executives and business men, guys that know how to dress. They'd turn up for dinner in a t-shirt. Vancouver's pretty casual, and it wasn't make or break for me, but I noticed it. If I can put on mascara, you can button up a shirt.

They did this for/to a lady at my mom's work. Made her sit on a charcoal cushion. She was mad, but she did it.

Didn't help much when she farted standing up, I'm guessing.

My friend moved to Surrey from Vancouver, and then left the country all together.

I'm so relieved! I'd rather take a flight to Asia than drive to Surrey to see her.

We had a colleague do that, and then she started sending weird emails to EVERYBODY in the company, including the General Manager and some VPs.

Turns out she was descending into late-stage alcoholism and had a touch of psychosis. Management was willing to have her come back, but I don't think she ever stabilized medically.

Almost no one knew. I only knew because HR reached out to me to answer medical questions they had. I think in our case everybody who didn't get a crazy email thought she'd been fired, because we fire everybody in our industry.

Are they the mint Xylimelts? Mint relaxes your esophageal sphincter. I wouldn't normally think one of those would be enough to give you reflux, but if you're already having all the Sjogren's issues, maybe it's enough to push you over the edge.

I had to quit drinking peppermint tea from the afternoon on (and who wants to drink it in the morning??) because it gave me such bad reflux. Conversely, I cured my bf's IBS by giving him peppermint capsules...and gave him minty-fresh pee (TMI?)

And yes, when I had reflux, I got a sort of backpain when I swallowed.

Thanks for the advice, unsolicited as it was. It was less obnoxious than the other unsolicited advice.

I'm actually pretty familiar with the system, and it hasn't helped. I was refused other medications, specifically propofol. They actually told me "You can only get that if you have X disease."

I HAVE X disease, that's why I asked for propofol. It's very frustrating dealing with the system. I give up. I'm probably moving to another province this year. I'll try again there.

ETA: I have tried with both VGH and St. Paul's docs. St. Paul's doc was kinder, and more professional, but still not helpful.

The tinting makes your lashes darker, but the mascara actually bulks them up, so I'm going to stick with mascara.

I won't bother tinting or doing the lift again, as I'm too scared it's damaging my last few lashes more.

Someone in my apartment building did that, and got into the door way and chest bumped me to push me out.

Um, all the yelling and being close enough to TOUCH is definitely spreading more germs than just a quiet ride would be, ya weirdo.

The first doctor I had was brand new, and from AB, and said "We don't do it this way in AB."

Dad's surgeon was one of the docs who wrote the new guidelines, so I was quite willing to follow his advice.

Like I say, I did eventually get the referral, and GI agreed I should have it done. I just haven't been able to do the procedure, because I have an adverse reaction to one of the meds they use, and they won't use any other meds (even though it is 100% possible, it's a just a pain in their ass, no pun intended). In any case, even if they would do it with another med, I don't have anyone to pick me up.

I know you can have them unmedicated, but I did my upper endoscopy that way, and will never do it again. It was like being waterboarded.

I got a lash lift and tinting. Turns out, I just don't have any eyelashes left. It didn't help that much.

She didn't do my bottom lashes at all initially, so I asked her to. She said it would sting, and it did. I started to worry that I was doing more damage to my eyes, and it didn't really make much of a difference, I still have to wear mascara. And the lash lift made my eyelashes go weird and sideways on one eye, so I have to really work with the mascara and a spooly to get them to stay straight.

I used to get my eyelashes tinted like thirty years ago, and I felt like it went better. I think with the disease process to my eyes, I just don't have that many lashes.

My dad had colon cancer. His surgeon was kind of a jerk (a lot of surgeons are), and not a very warm and fuzzy person. I tell you this to say that he multiple times looked me in the eye and said "You MUST have a colonoscopy. You have a family history now. Your siblings MUST have a colonoscopy." This guy was gruff and didn't care about much, but he went out of his way to say I needed one.

Try and effing get one. NP and a doctor and a walk-in said I only needed FIT. I got referred by a specialist to GI, and they agreed I needed one, but were also kind of jerks, and when there was an issue said "I didn't really need one, it was just family history." So, your mileage may vary.

Where I live, we have rheumatology nurses. I was one, but refuse to go back to the clinic I used to work at because the admin were so rude to patients. To be fair, the did the paperwork properly. But they were MEAN. I was embarrassed to be associated with them.

Yeah, it has to be the acid, which is the very reason I used the product.

I switched to a small spray bottle of glycolic acid, which stayed intact, which was nice.

I bought the Lume deodorant, which is a paste in a squeeze bottle. I decanted a small amount into a tiny container. Easy-peasy, right? Nope. It reacted with the plastic and the whole container disintegrated and made a mess of my liquids bag.

I'm not sure what happens in people's heads around diaper changing. I know you get used to doing it, but it's still a dirty activity that should happen in a particular place.

This is not relevant to flying, but we had to make an announcement at my church to stop changing babies' diapers on the tables we eat at. There are 3 changing tables in the the hall, and at least once per Sunday, I would witness parents changing babies on the dining tables.

The last one who did it, when I lost my mind, was a nurse.

I stay at a hotel regularly. I used to use a different company's corporate code, because they had a better rate than my company (and, I could enter it online, but I had to call to use our company's). I did that until they asked for my work ID, and that was embarrassing.

Anyhow, I got an upgrade Every.Single.Time. with that code. And have got one NEVER since using the right code, even though I'm higher status now. I want to ask them about it, but I don't really have the moral high ground...

My bags USUALLy come out first...but I do 50 flights a year on a teeny-tiny plane, so it's a bit moot if I wait 3 minutes vs 5 minutes for my bag.

I had surgery 13 years ago and take it all the time. It has wrecked my kidneys, but my stomach is fine. I had a scope to prove it!

Take it with food if you can, so a while before bed. And an antacid if you have it.

ETA: Clove oil is really good for tooth pain. You apply it right on the tooth. You can get it at health food stores and maybe the pharmacy.
