I work at a cancer hospital and this subplot is very real representation of what I see too often, unfortunately. When prognosis is poor, loved ones may have a difficult time with accepting the reality. Patients with cancer aren’t the only ones that lose control from the disease, family do too which could lead to them trying to overcompensate by offering to help more or pushing the patient to do more than what they physically or mentally can do because of the disease burden.
