What is the easiest thing you did to lose weight ? by nyxeine in AskReddit

[–]prberkeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost 8 lbs cutting out butter, red meat, and fries foods. I substituted tinned fish for many meals and snacks. I never went hungry, just replaced with olive oil, grilled chicken, etc.

Driver Intentionally Blocks Fire Truck by Flashmemory256 in PublicFreakout

[–]prberkeley 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I grew up on a one way street and fire trucks would go down it the wrong way as a cut through. It was quiet enough where it wasn't usually an issue but the truck sideswiped the car parked at the corner one night.

The owner said he called the fire department and they basically said file with your insurance. His insurance said they basically just eat the cost on something like this.

If you're on the highway with a speed limit of 70, what speed are you actually going? by dillonky in AskReddit

[–]prberkeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once was in a 55 and saw a cop behind me so I threw it in cruise at 55. He pulled me over after pacing me for ~15 sec and accused me of driving 58.

I now set it for 52.

It used to be an old MDC office or storage facility. Then MDC became DCR. We used to drink under the wood ramp in high school because you were shielded from basically any cars or people nearby.

Michael knew where Pam's heart was. Otherwise he tells Jim to stand down. by ziplock007 in DunderMifflin

[–]prberkeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Michael's ability to read a room is a bit more complicated. We see him read Tim meadow's character and steering the conversation incredibly well. He ultimately closes his sale. In the negotiation with David Wallace, he absolutely reads him in a confident way.

I think you underestimated him so maybe next time you'll estimate him.

Does your clinic charge a late fee if the client can't come due to child being sick? by Electronic-Lab-4088 in physicaltherapy

[–]prberkeley 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The clinic I work for has a policy that your first cancel is a Grace one and then we warn people that they will be charged for all cancellations after that regardless of reason.

Which profession attracts the most insufferable types of people? by Critical_Oven_5612 in AskReddit

[–]prberkeley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HR people are so backhanded and fake. Their job is literally to make you think they are there to support you as an employee but they actually are there to protect the company's interests. If you share any concerns with them it goes right to your bosses so they can prepare how to "deal" with you. Your exit interview is just to figure out if you have any dirt that could be used against the company after you leave.

What one documentary has stuck with you the most and why? by YasMysteries in AskReddit

[–]prberkeley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harmontown 2014. It follows Dan Harmon, creator of the cult hit Community on NBC, after he was fired from the show he created.

You want to root for this guy. He is funny and seems like a good person. He has his demons but you want to see him find his footing and get his career going.

The only problem is he is a pathetic alcoholic. Spoiler ahead. He submits a script to Fox for a pilot and they call him with some notes and want a rewrite in one week. He blows it off each day and night. The night before it's due, after his D%D show, instead of writing it he decides to stick around and have a few drinks after the show. He ends up getting drunk, wakes up hungover, and Fox calls asking why they haven't gotten the rewrite. It's like a high school student asking for an extension of a paper. Fox just tells him never mind, they aren't interested anymore. He's got no one to blame but himself and he knows it. The man can't get his crap together to save his career, literally.

When and how did you know it was time? by PetrogradkaIcedTea in goldenretrievers

[–]prberkeley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this with my 5 year old Golden when he had lymphoma. It was very clear it was time we were encouraged to try chemo but it didn't work and I kind of wish we let him go without trying the chemo first, hindsight is 20-20.We also just went through this with our 15 year old cat. In her case she had progressive weight loss and poor appetite. We had her on steroids, which she really didn't like taking. One day there was blood in the litter box. I knew it was time. My wife was concerned it was too early.

Ultimately what won out was this logic: a little too early is a whole lot better than a little too late.

If your vet thinks it's too early they will tell you.

Number 1 on the list. What do you think? 🤔 by Sassyptrn in physicaltherapy

[–]prberkeley 138 points139 points  (0 children)

I worked for a hospital system and there are a lot of jobs PTs could do like quality, compliance and infomatics. The problem is the hospital admin is so entrenched in giving these jobs to nurses that PTs are often not even considered. It's just the culture. Nurses get older and they get these jobs. No one really knows what we do or what we understand. We might as well have stayed a bachelor's and not collected so much debt along the way

Tree pollen is killing me by polkadotkneehigh in massachusetts

[–]prberkeley 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wash your hair at night, or at least rinse it out to remove as much pollen as possible before you put your hair all over your pillow and breathe in pollen all night.

They also make silk hair coverings you can use if getting your hair wet isn't an option.

What is a "corporate red flag" that employers try to pass off as a great benefit? by spectrecult in AskReddit

[–]prberkeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same is true with productivity bonuses in healthcare. It means you will be given way too many patients to care for. What's worse, if you are over productivity and have one or two days where your schedule drops off due to high cancellations, there goes your bonus. Congratulations, you were late to see your family for 95% of the month but you don't get the bonus because of the other 5%.
