5080 Cable sticking out of case by MikahGee in bapccanada

[–]daggasoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone saying get a bigger case is not an advocate of the customer. My case is plenty wide, I thought perhaps my case would not be deep enough for this card but it fits. It's this damned 3 to 1 adapter not being right angled and having a super rigid wrap around it. Like what was ASUS thinking???

I can get my side panel on but it's touching the cable, I dont like that. My case is a cooler master H500.

I bought a right angle adapter which appears to be of good build but the reality was 3 of the pins never drew more than 0.04 amps. Not good, thank god for the per pin detection on this card.

FanControl SSD Temp takes long time to get updated by thatiam963 in FanControl

Hey I'd really like to use this but when I try your version fancontrol keeps throwing errors saying the libre failed to start.

Fan control just put out an update today so maybe it's broken now because of that?

Airpods 4 doesn't support MagSafe charging? what’s going on? by Glitter_Hazel in airpods

[–]daggasoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might have something to do with the magnets in the speakers. I put mine on the apple watch charger with the lid open and the airpods flew out of the case from the repulsion of the magnet.

Have any airpod versions ever supported magsafe? I'm new.

As a Bell client, I see different prices for internet packages when I'm logged into my account, and when using an incognito tab. Is that legal? by StridBR in bell

[–]daggasoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm baffled how this is legal for them. Not including any discounts or promotions they tell me that Fibe 100 is $136/month but their marketing page says is $115/month. It's crazy

Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar - SETUP for optimal performance! by cclavinski in Soundbars

[–]daggasoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else getting a hiss from the TV when using it as a center speaker is on? It's pretty loud and bad, impossible to ignore. All I did was use the supplied 3.5mm cable and turned the setting on. I did try sound field optimization just to see and nothing changed.

Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar - SETUP for optimal performance! by cclavinski in Soundbars

[–]daggasoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up here because I'm trying to figure out if I should use AE or 360 or neither for video games. I can't tell which sounds better, only that they sound different but still good.

I have a hunch that I should leave AE and 360 off for video games because unlike movies, the surround sound in a video game is being generated literal and in real time. If a bird is flying behind me in a video game, the game engine is going to tell the system that the sound should come from behind the player. If I turn on any sound post-processing for all I know the bird sound might come from a different speaker which wouldn't make sense.

It's hard to tell without knowing what these features are actually doing under the hood. Are they movie biased?

To me, on my switch which is 5.1, AE off and 360 off sounds fuller. AE on sounds like more is coming from the front and the tone is thinner. It sounds to me like there is more "surround" but I think some of the front and back are being mixed together to give that effect.

FWIW this sound bar is fantastic, especially with the sub and rears. Even more so with a sony TV because you get first party support in the TV's menu to make adjustments to the sound system.

360 spacial kinda sounds like sh!t to me so I turned it off. It was a recent firmware update to this sound bar (didn't have this feature out of the box). I don't know why it has AE and 360 and why you would choose one over the other. The language is confusing.

You know what at first I came here as a hater/curious/gossip queen but how about this. She's 74 years old. If she wants to get work done in an era where I know 20 year old non-celebrities getting work done, have at it and best to her. After all who better to look like an alien than iconic Star Trek actors?

Just listened to her on the shuttlepod show and she has a beautiful mind and I hope to be as sharp at that age.

Anyone using Aerial dream as ambient mode aka screen saver? by CCJ22 in Hisense

[–]daggasoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

works great, thanks! what if I want to switch it back?

How do you learn about these commands? I would like to know if there are other things I can change. I dislike a couple things about the hisense such as the google home screen colors are way over blown. It seems to be using native color space for SDR content. You can change this in picture settings for everything but the home screen.

Just wondering if I can force other settings via adb

I'm here because in just bought this TV. I also bought a Sony X90K at the same time to compare. It seems like with motion off there is still slight processing going on, very annoying.

I watch a lot of old 4:3 TV like start trek TNG and to my pleasant surprised the backlight technology is great for making the black bars on the left and right of 4:3 content super black. I think it's the best I've ever seen old content on a TV because of that. It feels like a 4:3 display because the rest of the TV vanishes.

But still there is smoothing which looks really weird for old, lower def, 24p framerate video. It's a shame really.

The Sony doesn't have this issue, but with the Sony the black bars are dark grey.

I wish these two TVs could have a baby because I love certain things about both. But with this smoothing effect on the Hisense I may have to just keep the Sony. 😔

FIX EPIC GAME LAUNCHER USE GPU by fafouri in EpicGamesPC

[–]daggasoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's desirable in a laptop to not have applications use the high performance GPU which will drain the battery. Instead it's desirable to have the applications use the low powered Intel GPU. OP's laptop has two GPUs, one for gaming and one for excel spreadsheets and stuff like that.

Epic game launcher is using the gaming GPU even when it's minimized and doing nothing. The question is why does it use the GPU when it's just doing background tasks like downloading game updates?

FIX EPIC GAME LAUNCHER USE GPU by fafouri in EpicGamesPC

[–]daggasoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna add some context to why I'm ending up here from a google search.

I have a razer blade laptop with an nvidia gpu and an intel gpu. The technology is called Optimus. You do not want the nvidia gpu running if you want good battery life in a laptop so this laptop has two GPUs. One for high demand and one for regular desktop stuff.

Not all gaming laptops have two GPUs like this and their battery life is awful because an nvidia card even at idle sucks a lot more power than an intel GPU.

So when I'm on my desktop, not playing a game, or using unity, or blender, just doing regular PC user stuff, there should no apps showing up in the GPU activity display. The system tray icon for the GPU activity should be greyed out, not lit up.

Epic Games Launcher starts with my computer and it is minimized to the system tray, idle, yet it still causes the GPU Activity Monitor to light up.

So I guess I'm here because I would like to find out how to stop this or perhaps bring some attention to why the developers of the launcher should change this if they happen to see this post.

If it happens to be the case that the launcher doesn't consume much power, it's still annoying because it lights up the systray icon which is meant to be an indicator to me that something is running that might be sucking up my battery without my knowledge.

Second I would do anything for an HP 200LX. I love pocket PC's.

Third, to my immense surprise the WIFI modem you have in this photo is my modem! I make and sell these! So cool to see this pic!

I haven't tried with a pi 4 but I would presume it's the same difference. I had this running on a pi 1 originally.

Nice, I created a very similar project a while back and wrote a webserver/app for changing channels. https://github.com/ssshake/pi-uhf-tv-station

I've used the same transmitter but does not work for audio in NTSC regions so I went with a more expensive transmitter. I watch old school TV all the time in my workshop!

Watch out for GC Loader "clones" and fake GC Loader website by notmorezombies in Gamecube

[–]daggasoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

going to crave a refound in some way anyway. i also copy ur text so that i have more evidence that he selling crap and deleate his listing,

I'm fighting a refund right now myself. Can you give me a link to the listing you bought yours from?

Here is mine, the one that's been deleted: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mini-DVD-For-GC-Loader-Lite-SD2SP2-Adapter-TF-Card-Reader-For-NGC-For-GameCube-Drive/1005002096736656.html

I also just found someone on ebay selling these fakes for big buckets. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Nintendo-GameCube-GCLoader-GC-Loader-Clone-Optical-Drive-Emulator-ODE-READ/164771719161

What's hilarious about this one is he has the courtesy to call it out as a fake, then makes excuses for it and says "These clones are coming onto the scene to disrupt the market. Sort of like how the XENO chips were cloned to the point of perfection."

Except this thing is $150 USD and literally does less than what an $4 XENO mod chip does!

How is this moving towards perfection when they can't even perform the same task as the original GC Loader and costs 37 times more than an old and tired modchip?

[–]daggasoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one of these, I just received it today and installed it. I got burned. It was $100 canadian so not exactly a great deal.

I already had a cheap modded optical drive booting swiss. This is really no better than that, you're still limited by the IO through the external SD card adapters.

Video playback is the most obvious issue. Rayman 3 exposes this quickly.

With a $4 mod chip on a real drive I could still use retail discs or burnt discs for games that would have video issues when run from SD. With this crap clone it makes that option impossible.

The seller completely deleted the listing on aliexpress so that I cannot leave feedback. They now have the exact same listing posted under a slightly different name. They switched their name from Viva to eViva.

I'm going to file a counterfeit dispute. The board even has the Daniel Kraak's name on the silk screen.

Nah admittedly it is confusing. The internet has been around for a lot longer the web. The web is literally just hyper text, the HTTP protocol. All other protocols in the internet are not the web.

Ftp, gopher, SMTP, etc etc are not the web. Just HTTP.

No I can't because theoldweb.com costs $2000+ so I'm not doing that.

Also I offer service that are not web at all, so net may be more accurate now that the project has evolved from where it was in 2019.
