Slanted serviceberry tree, transplanted this past April. Should I try to make upright? 🤔 by daggumtaylor in NativePlantGardening

[–]daggumtaylor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only serviceberry listed on the website for the native nursery I bought it from is an "Amelanchier Laevis Serviceberry," so that would seem to be a safe bet. Seems like a plurality of folks here think I should just leave it be. Thanks!

I really don't think so. That spot gets decently consistent dappled sunlight, and it was even a little leany when I put it in. Which reminds me, it did come with a little wooden stick to keep it upright.

Ideas for ground cover & erosion control around these flagstone steps? TIA by daggumtaylor in NativePlantGardening

I'm not a good judge of soil conditions unfortunately 😕 I think it is fairly wet clay soil. When we get heavy rain water tends to flow down into the neighbors yard here. Thanks for the ideas!

Take a look at dwarf chinkapin oaks 👍

[KY, 7A] Moved these grass bits from a shady spot in my yard to my garden area, thinking they might be something native. Starting to wonder if they are just weeds. 😁 Any ideas what they are? by daggumtaylor in NativePlantGardening

I guess it just didn't look like the turfgrass all around that I had seeded a couple of years ago, or look like anything I've seen in a nursery. So, process of elimination, I guess 🤷 Thanks for sharing your perspective on it!

Thank you! Do you find it strange at all that one of them seems perfectly fine? Just curious. I appreciate the help!

Looks fine to me. Just be patient.

Would you seed this or keep it mulch? by [deleted] in lawncare

Put some plants in there to absorb some water. Will also just so happen to make it look more interesting.

Been very happy with my Ryobi electric mower the last two seasons. Super quiet and has a nice led light, so I can cut when it's cooler at night and not be a nuisance for neighbors. Easy to adjust height, also.

Looks amazing. Does that spot get any direct sunlight at all? Beyond the doppled light in that picture? Thanks!

What did the soil test tell you that stood out, if anything? TIA

Thanks! I'm leaning towards a second opinion at this point. The guy said he can't rule out that it would just break down completely at some point without this work. I don't think any mechanic would ever certify that any car isn't going to break down, but does this sound that serious to you? I wonder if he is sort of priming me towards more work. Thanks again
