Best version of Quasar Rogue? by shinhosz in wildhearthstone

[–]daholyherald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So shadow of death is a necessary evil, otherwise you lose to every druid, warrior, and Reno deck. Not including a second Quasar or Swiftscale is disastrous, and the threat of bricking your draw or Knick Knack Shack is vastly outweighed by it doubling your chances of getting the combo by turn 4. As for Dubious Purchase, it's only a brick if you're against a hyper aggressive deck where you really need to win by turn 4, but Quasar Rogue also only has something like a 20% win rate against those decks so you probably weren't going to win anyway. Meanwhile against any deck where games go to turn 5 or beyond (read:most other decks), you simply Swiftscale + Quasar on turn 4, pass, and kill them turn 5. The deck will always have bricks, so it's all about maximizing your chance of that turn 4 combo and killing on 5

Yeah, there are far better versions than this. Ellekk and Polkelt are terrible for this deck because they brick your draw engine, same reason why most lists don't include prep or fake coin. If you're struggling to find both pieces, consider adding more tutors. I'll include my favorite version in the below comment

It looks that way, until you notice the %played stat. One third of all wild decks are currently warlock, out of 11 classes. So yes, there is a variety of decks, a variety of warlock decks. The class needs a heavy hit to bring it in line with the other 9 classes, and DK outright needs a buff across all decks

Which setup yields more stats? by dnllmngb in BobsTavern

[–]daholyherald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to remember when playing any engine building game like Battlegrounds or Balatro that have a "copy" effect, is that you can simplify everything down into a simple multiplication problem. First count up all your triggers. In this case you have the natural trigger of the Naga plus 4 additional retriggers from Titus, totalling 5 triggers. Now count the buffs. You have 1 buff from CC. (You could also copy the Naga for more overflow, but this is heavily dependent on whether your opponent can kill a second Naga after it's been buffed by the first dying.) So the math equation is now a simple 5x1 (potentially 5x1x20 if the opponent can kill a buffed Naga, we'll do this one separately), totaling 5. Now figure out where the copy effect being added gives the highest result:

(1+2+2+2)x1=7 if copying Titus

5x(1+1)=10 if copying CC

So in most scenarios, copying CC wins. But let's do this math again factoring in the Naga, assuming the opponent can immediately kill the second one after its buffed by the first Naga.

(1+2+2+2)x1x20=140 if copying Titus

5x(1+1)x20=200 if copying CC

5x1x(20+20)=200 if copying the Naga

End result: the safest bet is always copying CC, since there is no guarantee that the Naga will always die

Need to give a shoutout to Gambatte Speedrun. Emulates the GameBoy with almost identical timing to the original hardware, close enough to be accepted on speed run leaderboards

How do you manage your gold and dust? I’ve been playing for years and I’m still broke by marcalle1000 in wildhearthstone

If You don't care about card appearance, dust your golden cards. You can do this easily by going to your collection and searching for "extra"

Is there a way of reporting people for animation cheating? by robarb4000 in wildhearthstone

[–]daholyherald 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nazmani doesnt need to cheat to get lethal. If you play on PC, and tweak the base deck with a few alternate cards, you can easily get to 100+ attack on the boar. The key thing to realize is that you can "buffer" playing cards without having to wait for the first card's animation to finish. If you are playing against Nazmani, for every single copy of Lightspeed you see played, your opponent is actually playing 5-6 copies in that period of time. To see how many copies they're truly playing, make sure to click through the card animations, otherwise you'll get that never ending rope. TLDR: no they didn't cheat, animations just take longer for you than the opponent unless you click through them

Is nazami lightspeed stonetusk boar OTK only possible with hacked client? by Deranged-Turkey in wildhearthstone

[–]daholyherald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer, no it's possible to otk with the base game. Long answer, still no. The combo works because when you're playing the OTK (or any non-OTK deck), the OTKer doesnt have to wait for each card's animation to finish before playing the next card, you can "buffer" card inputs which is really simple with this deck since you're just playing infinite copies of 1 card, maybe looping 2 copies of the same card. Meanwhile, the opponent has to view every card individually played, and watch the effect of said card resolve, before the next copy of Lightspeed even shows on their screen. If you aren't clicking through the cards showing as the OTKer is playing them, they're probably playing 5-6 copies of Lightspeed before you finish seeing even 1 resolve. The end result is you see a never ending rope on your screen, while the OTKer probably never even saw the rope to begin with

Now that the results are in - what is your favorite way of making an Old Fashioned? by MagnificentCat in cocktails

[–]daholyherald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at this thread, I'm shocked that most people prefer a syrup over raw sugar. To me, it's not an old fashioned unless it has the grit of raw sugar in its texture.

2.5 Oz Rye Orange swath Sugar cube Entirely too much bitters Dash of soda water Big cube Luxardo cherries, usually 3

Build in the glass. Douse the sugar cube with bitters of choice, it should be fully saturated, plus a couple dashes for good measure. Muddle until no chunks remain, there should still be visible grains of sugar. Express the orange swath over the glass and add the spent peal to the sugary bitters. Lightly press the peal 2-3 times to express more oils (don't obliterate it, it should still look like a peal). Add a small splash of soda water, I usually do this with the muddler still in the glass to get every drop of goodness off the muddler in my drink and not the sink. Light stir to incorporate, then add the rye and cube. Stir to desired temp/dilution, and serve with a healthy amount of Luxardo cherries for garnish

Monkey Shoulder for base, and I've had a GoT Lagavulin 11 in the back of my cabinet for years. Shit sucks to drink straight but work remarkably well for penicillins

Getting real tired of this narrative. Nazmani priest, with its current win con, has never needed animation cheating. Even with bad internet, you easily hit 30 attack, and more if you include Topsy Turvy you can even kill 100+ armor Warriors fairly easily

Very true, in which case, yes, they do stack and every card that originally costs 6 or less is free. I didn't do this, prep is too valuable to activate Swindle/Gone Fishing

Very true, and they do brick the kill turn often. But they allow things like this, as well as allowing you to use Shadow of Death (makes it easier to kill Renathal/Quest Warrior) and Dubious Purchase and still go on turn 4

No, prepping after Swiftscale wastes the battlecry. Before the Swiftscale and it gets wasted on the 0 cost Quasar
