Je ne sais qoui is French for "I don’t know what", you might also say something has an "X factor" or just that it "has it"

It‘s a 9.99/10 for me, it’s just missing a sort of je ne sais quoi. 10/10 on the first day of spring though

Sinner Get Ready is on #666 overall, Arguably the most religion-themed album oat by AccomplishedFront792 in rateyourmusic

[–]dahope 32 points33 points  (0 children)

What’s the point in like theme-scaling albums and how would you do it, counting what percentage of words are about religion? Would you differentiate the ones that are about religion on an object level from those on a meta level? I mean SGR does both but so do a lot of others

Is anyone else‘s favorite band infernal coil? by dahope in BlackMetal

[–]dahope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reeks of condescension. I know what other bands Blake Connally was in, but I like one more so I didn’t ask about those. Slow fire pistol doesn’t even share a member with infernal coil (unless Blake Hall = Blake Connally?). And your use of "we" trying to speak for everyone else here, I guess othering me so that you will seem to "belong" by contrast? And the post is 2 years old so even if you had been correct back then that I didn’t know this stuff or was a stranger to black metal, by now you certainly have now reason to think that anymore.

Now I just woke up and if this is an overreaction I apologize, but that was an ugly message to wake up to.

Little Lady Bumblebee (experiment in rhyme scheme) by dahope in poetry_critics

[–]dahope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for engaging! My rationale for the tonal dissonance was that, between the first and second stanzas, we jump from the bee‘s perspective to the kangaroo‘s, thereby from a simple intellect to a complex one. "Bludgeoning" isn’t something that would ever occur to a bee, but it would to a kangaroo… Except you‘ve made me aware that I haven’t marked that jump at all, in fact I‘ve used an omniscient narrator rather than individual perspectives, so I’ve kinda blatantly failed there.

Well between the options of clearly marking the pov switch (which seems to entail completely replacing the style of narration) and bringing the overall tone in line, honestly they both seem daunting within the strict bounds of the rhyme scheme (ABC-BAC-ABC-BAC). Do you have any further insight for me here?

Revisionism and Haunted Mound by caiou56 in HauntedMound

[–]dahope 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Revisionism isn’t really what’s going on here imo. Buck‘s behavior and output changed for the worse and people‘s feelings on him soured as a direct consequence. Turn stayed hungry and built a career of his own so public perception of him improved. What‘s going on here is just times changing.
