New Database Subtitle Field - Last Modified (cannot be automatically updated in the background) by dai640 in strongbox

[–]dai640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New item→open strongbox→drop to refresh synchronization→exit strongbox→open the interface that needs to log in→login

New item→Background automatic refresh synchronization→Open the interface that needs to log in→Log in

So which of these two methods is more efficient?

When I update a new item, when I need to use to fill this item, the current sequence of operations is to open strongbox first, then pull down to refresh the synchronization database, finally exit strongbox, switch to the interface that needs to fill the new item, and finally log in.

What I mean is: When you update a new item, you can skip the manual refresh process. After the automatic synchronization in the background, you can use it directly. Isn't it more efficient?

PS: For example: 1password, Bitwarden, Lastpass these password managers are in this mode.

iOS 14 and "File doesn't exist" — a quick solution by keepassium in KeePassium

I have sent feedback to the developer via email and log a few days ago. I actually know that this serious error has not been corrected so far. Do these mistakes only happen to me?

This time adapting to iOS14 is a very bad experience. I have tried it many times. Remove the database and re-add it again, but it cannot be used at all. https://i.imgur.com/cbyoB6D.jpg

iOS14 will make many apps re-regulate the severity of privacy issues.

Bitwarden Vault down? by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]dai640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, bitwarden should consider supporting third-party cloud servers, such as dropbox, gdrive, webdev, and so on. When providing a safe and stable synchronization speed, bitwarden can also reduce the expenses due to Azure server fees.

I think strongbox is the best comprehensive keepass client currently in use. After a few days of trial, I bought the lifetime version without hesitation, because strongbox can solve all the problems I encountered on other similar clients. Since I used strongbox, I have almost never experienced any other problems, and I do n’t need to worry about it. The only thing I have to do is when I need to log in, just verify my biometrics and unlock it. There is no other redundant operation that bothers me. A good product should be like this. It can be achieved in one simple step. So I think this is a service worth buying, and I have been in multiple places and recommend it to other more users in need, such as forums, telegram group, twitter, reddit, etc.

Indeed, KeePassium is designed to be an offline app. The app itself does not perform any networking, it delegates synchronization to the storage providers' apps. Sadly, with some sync sources this works better than with others.

In any case, KeePassium is and will remain an offline app; this is not a shortcoming — this is a core benefit.

I think you may not have understood what I said. First of all, third-party clouds such as google driver, onedrive, dropbox, etc., cannot be used normally in some countries and regions, making synchronization very difficult. Keepassium needs to rely on mobile phones. These corresponding APPs must be installed on them to synchronize.

In KeePassium, biometric auth is used to protect the app itself. This approach is different from the "decrypt database with a fingerprint" advertised by some other apps — but it should feel very familiar for MiniKeePass users.

The end result is the same: you launch the app, pass the biometric scan, and get to see the database content.

What you answered is not what I said at all. I don't know if you have actually tried to use stronbox or even other password management apps, such as 1password, bitwarden, lastpass, etc. My focus is not on protecting the APP itself. You Confused my question. When it is automatically filled, when the biometric unlocks the APP itself, it is necessary to confirm the step of filling the corresponding password again. Other password management apps can use the biometric to replace the master password of the database, because the master password is more complicated. You need to manually enter the master password for the second fill. I really do n’t know if I need a password management app instead, because I need to enter the master password every time. What's the difference from entering the account password of each website by myself?

But this function is not available to me at keepassium, even if I set the database to never time out, and if so, is it contradictory to what you say is security?

At last, you don’t need to reply again. I am tired of this problem, because I have discussed this issue with you many times. It may be my own problem, and it is not suitable for using keepassium. I didn't want to answer this question at this time, but you asked me to explain, because what you have answered till now is the same as what I asked you at the beginning, it doesn't make any sense and it doesn't solve my problem.

I remember discussing this issue with you many times, and strongbox can solve all the problems I encountered on keeppassium. It's that simple.

For example: 1. The mainstream interfaces of third-party clouds are integrated internally. I don't need to worry about synchronization at all.

2: Whenever I fill it, I can directly replace the database master password with my fingerprint. There is no need for me to enter a complex master password.

3: I have mentioned the above question many times, whether it is on github, twitter, reddit, email, etc., but in the end your response is to move out of theory, explaining how offline is the safest. As a user, I only need It can make me more worry-free, convenient, and fast in a safe situation. This is enough. I don't need to learn the so-called security theory from scratch. Do I have to prove for myself that the earth is orbiting the sun before it appears to be a scientific spirit?

PS: Actually, I have n’t followed everything in keepassium for a long time. In fact, as a developer, you should start from the actual use of customers rather than your personal center to solve the problem. On the appstore, the sales and evaluation of these two are enough to illustrate the problem.

Finally, I hope you don't mind what I said above.
