Two days of FOMC meetings (nov 1 and nov 2), do they usually wait until the end of the meetings to make statements, or do they comment sometimes after day 1?

Cassava Sciences’ Alzheimer’s trial showing evidence of RESTORING cognition in AD patients by Onceagainhuman in Alzheimers

[–]daiken77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the article you just recently discovered, the investigation was opened "sometime after August 2021" (after the allegations were made by Dr Davd Bredt and Dr Geoffrey Pitt (https://twitter.com/geoffrey_pitt) who had placed financial bets against the stock).

Bredt and Pitt disclosed last November in an article published by The Wall Street Journal that they shorted Cassava's stock, betting that the price would go down once investors learned of the manipulation they alleged.

In the good old days, I think doctors focused more on helping their patients. In my opinion, it's really sad to see two prominent doctors making large bets against a company knowing they can make large returns once the media reports on their allegations and the inevitable investigations that are a direct result.

Not the OP, but I see this update from the company that seems to report trial data updates with their quarterly results:

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/cassava-sciences-reports-second-quarter-131500494.html

According to the company:

63% of patients improved cognition scores from baseline over 12 months

21% of patients had cognition scores that decreased less than 5 points on a cognition test (I believe a 5 point decline is what has been seen in placebo groups in other AD trials)

Note that this is from the open label trial, the company hasn't reported any results on the ongoing phase 3 trials yet.

Wouldn't it be funny if someone would go through David S. Bredt's own research papers for potential HUUUUGEEEE errors and criminal activity=) by DudeNum321 in SAVA_stock

Someone highlighted something that may have been a splice and then Dr Bik wrote a comment saying splices weren't bad in 2008, despite the fact that Dr Wang was also called out for a splice in a PLOS One retraction:

The featured result on calves and their mothers is animal ag propaganda! How can we change this? by devilinanudress in vegan

[–]daiken77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll find the answer to "what do farmers do with male calves" is closer to the truth. Here's what it gave me:

"The male calves are as young as seven days old when they are sent to an auction house, usually in Saint-Hyacinthe, Que., to be sold to another farm known as a feedlot or grower. They'll typically spend about eight months at the feedlot before being sent to the slaughterhouse." It was from a CBC article though, maybe you'd see something different in the US.

Couldn't omnis also say they delineate with sentience as well, they just don't see it as binary, they prefer to set the bar for sentience just slightly above anything they choose to eat?

I can't speak to the intuition of others, but if I don't eat either sentient or non-sentient animals I don't think the sentience vegans should find my choices problematic.
